Ellesynd Estate is an upper class Skingrad style manor northeast of Kvatch, roughly between Fort Linchal and Dagny Camp. This house mod was made with an idea to be - above all else - usefull base for players in their adventuring throughout the world of TES IV: Oblivion. It is, therefore, relatively small, but still provides everything to help you in your quests: sorting and quick travel devices, full magical/alchemical laboratory, crafting, etc. as well as lots of safe storage.

There's no quest to obtain this home. Simply go northeast from Kvatch, and you'll get to Ellesynd Estate. The front door is locked - look around the house to find the key. As Aisis would say, don't get scared; it's very close... The ReadMe contains all the hints you need to find it.

Interior consists of four cells: "Ellesynd Estate" (the main area), basement, bathroom and tower. All lights within manor (chandeliers, sconces, candlesticks, fireplaces...) can be toggled on and off - simply point to a light source and activate it. If you start the fire, smoke will be rising from the chimney outside. During the day, interior is lit by the sunlight coming through the windows; and during night, the windows outside will glow according to the lights you've switched on inside (the Illumination Within method).

All containers within (and around) the manor are safe storage, except three which are clearly marked as respawning: "Drinks" (a keg) at the very entrance to the basement, "Food Cabinet" accross the round table in the basement sleeping room, and "Rare Ingredients" (a covered pot) in a lower class cupboard in the tower.

Here's a short description of important Ellesynd Estate features.

In the kitchen (main area, first floor):

  • Cooking pot in the fireplace can be used to make teas from all regular vanilla game herbs (42 in total). These teas work as potions (weak type).
  • Activate the baking tray on the table next to the fireplace to swap places with the cooking pot. Once in the fireplace, you can use baking tray to make bread, sweetcakes, sweetrolls and shepherd's pies. Both cooking pot and baking tray require the fire underneath to be burning, or they will work as simple containers.

In the laboratory (main area, second floor):

  • Static alchemy set will provide you with apparati according to your overall alchemy skill.
  • Altar of Magicka works as both enchanting and spellmaking station; the color of the flames will change depending on how you use it.
  • Stone of travel will teach you a spell to teleport back to Ellesynd Estate the first time you touch it, and after that will offer quick travel to all major cities in Cyrodiil. When you select a destination, a portal will appear in the laboratory - simply walk through it.
  • Ingredient multiplier will take seven days to multiply an igredient you place inside ten-fold. Unlike the archmagister's chest in regular game, this one will tell you immediately if the igredient you've placed inside is not recognized; once you start the process, you can not access the content until seven days pass, but after that, multiplied ingredients will wait for you indefinitely; finally, if you place more than one ingredient inside (or even other items), only one of them will be multiplied, while others remain intact. Much better, eh?
  • The point where you appear after you use the spell to return to the manor is also within laboratory. It is placed such that you'll have a number of containers within your reach, as well as an array of sorters. You can use the blue Ayleid skull (on the top of a bookshelf on the southeast wall) to select which sorters you want to be active.
  • If you use the spell to return to Ellesynd Estate while you're already in the manor (main area), you will be transported to the basement.

In the bathroom (a separate small cell):

  • Use the bathtub to restore your health and damaged attributes.

In the tower (another small cell):

  • You can train your lock-picking skills with five autolocking chests, one for each lock level. Note that these chests re-lock as you close them, which means that they can be used as regular containers, too.

In the basement:

  • Brewer can produce beer and ale from wheat. The time it takes to finish brewing depends on your alchemy level.
  • Spinning wheel can turn yarns into bolts of cloth.
  • With Jeweler's tools you can make new rings, necklaces and amulets, or improve existing ones by adding jewels. Put starting materials in jeweler's box, then activate tools and select what to do.
  • Tanning rack will make fur armor from animal pelts, or you can turn pelts into raw leather, and then use it to create leather armor.
  • Smelter can turn surplus weapons and armor (only the regular, unenchanted ones!) into raw materials - ingots. You can also smelt garden tools (shovels, rakes, pickaxes, tongs, callipers...), silver dishes and some simple jewelry. Again, the smelter itself works as a container, and you should activate the bellows to actually do something.
  • Forge does the opposite: here you can make new armor and weapons (including arrows) from the ingots you produce in the smelter. Yet again, the forge is a container where you need to put raw materials, and the bellows initiate the process. The forge fire must be burning if you intend to make anything.
  • You can use the anvil to repair your gear, make lockpicks (from iron or steel ingots), or improve rusty iron and regular iron and steel weapons.

What you can do with the smelter, the forge and the anvil depends on your armorer skill.

At last, even though several people owned this house after death of its original owner, a valuable artifact of his remained inside - hidden or maybe simply forgotten. See if you can find it...
