Legendary 2D Weapons

Title: Legendary 2D Weapons
Author: EleiMiShill
Last Update: 14 AUG 2017
Requirements:

Files explanation:

  • LegendaryWeapons (14 AUG 2017 ver 1.7) main file and .bsa data file
  • 2DLW_Patch_1_7 (14 AUG 2017 ver 1.7) included statues not yet available in Useful Collection; required until next UC update
I left the old version if by any chanche people prefer that one but it's not required and the bug corrections are in the new one.

Description:
Do you remember those games in the old days, when Direct X wasn't even conceived? Those pesky dungeons and legendary weapons you fought so hard to obtain? This mod will bring in Oblivion some of those weapons in a reconstruction of a very old dungeon.

The dungeon is the reconstruction as faitful as possible of the first 4 levels of Eye of the Beholder! The puzzles are those (and if you feel lost, just search in Internet the original maps and walkthrough), I just changed the items you can find in (not the keys). To access the dungeon you must start the quest (just ask around in Chorrol about the Sewers)

What will you find?
There're several weapons from some oldies inside the dungeon:

From Eye of the Beholder:
  • Guinsoo Dagger
  • Nightstalker
  • The Slasher
  • Drow Shield +3

From Eye of the Beholder 2:
  • Green Crystal Hammer
  • Talon

Dungeon Master 2
  • Blue Steel
  • Fury (flaming and Spent)
  • Meteor Metal Blade
  • Vorpal

From Ultima 7
  • Blackrock Sword "Shade Sword" (but without the powers)
  • Glass Sword
  • Serpent Dagger

What will you find not?
Most of EOB original loot are pretty useless in Oblivion, so I didn't place them (expecially rocks).

There's no final boss (unfortunately I couldn't find a Dragon or a Beholder to use for my mod. In the end I place a final boss in the end (You'll probably have to kill him if you wan to to exit the dungeon. Notice that the dialogue of the last boss makes no sense! In fact it's the EXACT dialogue the boss had with the adventurers before the epic battle at the end of the original game. It's good for a laugh for those that played the original.

Surrogates:
Some creatures in EOB world doesn't exist in Tamriel. Therefore I had to use surrogates. Unfortunately my skills in creating meshes and textures doesn't grant me the ability to create them. Please bear with me. So you'll have Gobolts, Rats, Fillint and Kuo-Tao, not the original creatures.

ATTENTION!
Eye of the Beholder used massively the grab function! And in this dungeon you have to do it too! Therefore, if you try to activate a lock, it won't open even if you have the key in your inventory! You MUST use the grab function to bring the key near the lock and then the key will fit in and open the door. If you try to just ativate the locks, wherever possible, the pick menu will appear. Remember this because every key is SINGLE USE! Once you use the one you have, you need to find another one of the same type! Therefore use them wisely!

Also, some pressure plates will activate with items placed on them (something missing in Oblvion entirely, but now it is possible)!

The 4th level is a bit different from the original (you cannot go down to the 5th level, the Stone Portal doesn't work at all, the teleport in the spider section has been removed and the south corridor now is indiependent from the north one, but still you'll have to go there, and in the north section you'll find the exit)

Also, you must find all the 3 pieces of Talon (Tongue, Eye and Hilt) to excape the dungeon! Therefore, pay attention and explore!

Special quest fot this level!
They where in the original game and you'll find them in this mod too! Just the prizes are different!
Level 1: Guinsoo dagger
Level 2: Glass Sword
Level 3: Fury (spent)
Level 4: Black Rock Sword "Shade Sword" and it will also open the way out

Bugs:
  • For now I cannot convince creatures to cast spells! And that's unfortunate (spiders in 4th level should be all about their poison).
  • Sometimes the dwarven key stays midair while dropped; I really cannot understand where the problem is (I already deleted the collison box and create a new one, and didn't solve the problem); just drop it near the lock until it activates and this will solve the problem for the next copies of the key
  • sometimes creature fall throuth the floor! I really cannot understand why! If you have any idea please tell me so I can correct the bug

Incompatibilities:
Unique Landscapes - Chorrol Hinterland: unfortunately the two mods conflicts, and I also experienced CTD;  (solved)

Credits:
elveon - Initial Spider model and textures (elveonSpiderBrown, elveonSpiderWhite).
Malo - Spider animations.
mikal33 - hairy version of the spider (mikal33Spider01, mikal33Spider02, mikal33Spider03)
AlienSlof - Tarantulas with modified model and UV Maps (SlofTarantula*)
Stroty: Alchemy set
All the authors that made the resources contained in Useful Meshes Collection

Help Needed:
Of course I need meshes and textures for the creatures that inhabit the dungeon in Eye of Beholder; And also better textures (and meshes) for some of the weapons.

Legal:
Most of the meshes and textures are my work, and you can do whatever you want with them. Just if you come up with better textures that satisfy better the idea of the original weapons, PLEASE, let me include them in this mod instead of mine (dued credit will be given).

Future updates:
  • patches for Chorrol Hinterland
  • making the creatures cast spells and possibly giving the spiders their original deadly poison that made them so terrifying in the original EOB
  • perhaps a final boss if I find the proper resources
  • Improve some of the weapons

Right now I don't plan adding the missing levels nor creating the Eye of Beholder 2 dungeon.History
v 1.7
  • Adapted activators to new statues; it will probably require a clean install
  • some minor changes in textures

v 1.6
  • Some texture updates; now weapons and shield shouldn't look as platic toys but more like metal items
V 1.5
  • Added last boss (sorta)
  • Added Drow Shield (no, it's not Spiderman's shield, it's inspired to the actual Drow Shield in EOB)
  • Now, if you opern properly the doors in a certain room of Dwarven's Ruins, Health potions will pop up :)
  • This release works with Unique Landscapes - Chorrol Hinterland and Open Cities (verified)
V 1.0
  • Initial Release
