LUSH & GAUDY FLORIANA AUSTRALIS 1.0
--------------------------------------------------------

*WARNING - if you're using one of my old L&G mods, be sure to delete the old Oblivion/Data/Trees folder before you install this version. If you don't, shit will surely hit the fan. (And yes, that is the right directory.)

Welcome to the latest instalment of all things lush and gaudy.

This is a texture replacement for trees, shrubs, long grasses, rocks, and ground covers.

The average resolution of the textures is 2048x2048.There are also medium (1024x1024) and low (512x512) resolution versions on offer.

Unlike previous L&G mods, this one is decidedly dull and arid - hence the DA in the esp name. (Let's be frank, there's no other way to put it when comparing it to other L&G mods.) There's also a certain level of uniformity to all the regions. While there are enough variations for a bit of interest, overall there's no major differences. The price of this uniformity is a lack of diversity. The payoff is smooth regional transitions, a vastly less complicated esp, and no clashing colours.

To accommodate some of the drastic changes to the Jerall Mountains (going from snow to completely dry) I've included an optional tweak to get rid of the falling snow for those who don't want to blow their immersion to pieces.

The main Lush & Gaudy DA.esp file MUST be activated for this mod to work properly. It won't clash with any other mods you might be running and unlike the nightmare esp files of Floriana Gloria, this one is small and simple, but still makes a few vital changes. (All of which are explained further down if you really want to get picky.)

Enjoy all the decidedly dull frippery...or not.

TO INSTALL
----------------

Before you do anything else, if you were running an old Lush and Gaudy FG or whatever, make sure you delete the Oblivion/Data/Trees folder before proceeding. We don't want that shit to hit the fan, do we?...well...maybe you do.

1:) Copy the Data folder to your Oblivion directory. If asked to over-write any existing files, say yes.

2:) Activate the Lush & Gaudy DA.esp file.

3:) Choose (or ignore) any of the optional goodies you want. Copy the Data folders of your choice to your Oblivion directory. If asked to over-write any existing files, say yes.

4:) Do a BSA Redirection with a tool like OBMM if you're feeling sanitary. Skip it if you're not.

5:) Play.

6:) Multiple choices from here on:

A: Complain about the mod to mod author because it's not how you would have done it.
B: Compliment modder on mod and grovel appropriately.
C: Do neither of the above.
D: Fuck up your installation of the mod and do a variation of option A.
E: Decide it's shit and un-install it without a word.
F: Decide it's decent enough and keep it installed without a word.
G: Question whether or not you should still be reading this frippery.
H: Keep pondering.
I: Almost there.
J: If you haven't fucked off by now, fuck off.

GLITCHES / FLAWS / ALL THAT ANNOYING SHIT
----------------------------------------------------------------

Major flaw: The trees have no collision. I can't fix it, so don't complain. Or better yet, fix it yourself.

Major flaw: There's only one tree type. I couldn't find any others that suited this look, so stiff titty. Wear it.

Minor flaw: Some of the tree leaves drape low to the ground in places and poke into the odd hill.

Minor flaw: My normal maps stink. Nothing new there.

Minor flaw: My distant landscape is mediocre at best. Also nothing new.

That's all I can think of for the moment. No doubt there's more.

NO MORE TREE TRUNKS POKING OUT OF HILLS
----------------------------------------------------------------

Yay!

----------------------------------------------------------------
WHAT DOES THAT QUESTIONABLE ESP FILE DO?
----------------------------------------------------------------

The Lush & Gaudy DA.esp file does the following:

It changes which long grasses are associated with certain ground textures for varying regions. Without this, I wouldn't have the right grasses in the right areas in many cases.

It re-scales the distant trees so that they match the tree model I used. Without this, you'd have distant trees that were either too big or too small compared to the close-range ones.

It swaps a few ground textures around to achieve the right balance for certain areas. Without this, it'd simply look like shit.

It also provides eternal youth to all modders.

OPTIONAL GOODIES?
----------------------------

As explained above, one of these optional goodies (Get Rid of That Bloody Snow) simply removes the snow particles so you don't get falling snow when you're trotting about the newly arid Jerall Mountains.

The other optional goody (Fix Those Fucking Runestones) is a minor texture replacement for the runestones to make them match all the reddish rocks in my mod.

I personally use both of these, since I think they're relatively important, but - unlike the main L&G DA esp - they're not vital depending on how tasteless you are.

---------------------
COMPATIBILITY
---------------------

Here comes the usual line: This should work splendidly in combination with Qarl's textures or any other texture replacement (well...ones that don't concentrate on the same shit mine does.) Just be sure to install this monster LAST / over the top.

If you want the superior fungus found in Improved Trees and Flora by Mikal33, then install that BEFORE you install L&G FA.

This mod also has built-in compatibility with AliveWaters by Windsurfer and Harvest Flora mod by Quarn and Dejunai.

Unlike L&G FG, this one should actually look pretty nice with the Unique Landscapes. Since all the regions are uniform, the mish-mash of flora and fauna found in the UL's ought to work fairly well.

*EDIT* I've actually made a return to using the UL's after a long break, and in combination with L&G FA, they look bloody great. (Haven't tested all of them, but thus far things are looking excellent. Forgot how much they added to the game.)

IS THAT REALLY HOW AUSTRALIA LOOKS?
--------------------------------------------------------

Hell no.

-----------------
BULRUSHES?
-----------------

Nope. You're not getting them back.

CREDITS

Me.

----------
MAY I?
----------

You may disembowel, shred, rip off, re-release, and tamper with this mod in any manner you please. Take the textures and use them in other games. I don't care what you do with the resources.

If you make something better or something completely shit from it, I don't mind either way. Make use of everything here, don't ask for permission. Rip away.

Credit is nice but unnecessary.

Enjoy.
