About this mod

Realistically upgraded furniture and better use of space in the Imperial City Shack. Also adds a realistic basement thereto.

Okay, I get that it's a shack; we're not supposed to expect much. But the place is a real dump. It bothers me that my character is level 27 now, has more gold than he knows what to do with, but there's nothing he can do to spruce up this hole he used to sleep in.

Cue this mod. I am aware of a few other mods that change the shack, but I found them to be either not enough of an upgrade or unrealistic. I upgraded the furniture slightly (to middle class) so that the feel of the shack is greatly improved, but I think still looks realistic. I also made better use of the space available, so that the place could be a real home.

The basement door outside of the shack that used to do nothing now leads to a realistic shack basement, with some storage and such. Note that you need to stand back a bit from the door to get the activator icon to appear. If I ever figure out a way to fix that, I'll update the file.

Installation: Extract the .esp file to the "Data" folder for Oblivion. Activate the file by checking the box next to it ("ER Imperial Shack Improvement") in the "Data Files" menu in the Oblivion launcher.

Uninstall: Delete the .esp, then go to your room to think about what you've done.

Requirements: Latest Oblivion Patch, and about the 3 seconds of time it takes to install. You also need to purchase the shack like normal - you need to have the key to access the basement and the shack's interior.

Note: I decided not to change the shack itself, but to simply have the door transport you to a duplicate cell. That way, even if you have your vanilla shack just the way you want it, you can still activate my mod and try it out for as long as you want, but if you don't like it, just deactivate it and your original vanilla shack is just how you left it, regardless of how many times you've saved since activating my mod. You can also activate the mod before completing the quest that furnishes the shack; any upgrade purchases you make just won't make any difference to the shack.

CAUTION: This should be obvious, but if you activate my file, then change things in the shack, then deactivate the file, and save your game, the changes you made to the improved shack will no longer apply. So don't store anything awesome in the improved shack, and then go and deactivate the file and save again. Your stuff will be lost.

It is also only fair to tell you that this is my first upload, but I've been enjoying my own mods for quite a while.

I can think of no reason this would be incompatible with any other mod, except for those that add a basement to the shack or change where the shack door transports. Please report any bugs and such to me at [email protected].
