Ever felt robbed by the fact that the Arcane University was never a "real" university? That you really didn't have to study much in order to become Arch-Mage? Then I present to you:

Arcane University Mystic Archives Classrooms

What does this mod do?

I always felt like the Mystic Archives, the University Lectures, and the University Gardens served no real purpose in respect to the Arcane University, so I created a small mod to remedy that problem

This mod establishes the brand new Arcane University Education Department in the basement of the Mystic Archives. The Department revolutionizes the structure of the Arcane University by adding a series of interactive classes/courses that can be taken by the player. That's right, you can now take classes in the Arcane University!

Each week-long class is not a quest, but structured much like a University course or class. Registration begins on Sundas with the Dean, with classes starting on Morndas and lasting through Fredas. Each class has a unique syllabus and style of teaching; you may be required to read a certain book for the course, or you may need to listen to a series of lectures. Every class finishes on the Fredas of each week with a multiple choice final exam administered by the teacher. Passing the class will earn the student a bachelor degree, which translates to a skill advancement in the respective field.

What do you mean by Courses?

The mod adds four "courses" or classes that can be taken by the player in order to obtain a bachelor degree (denotes which skill point is awarded) in the field. They are as follows:

The Art of Spellcraft: A beginner's class that focuses on the concept of spellcraft. Students will learn about the origins of magicka and the proper techniques for utilizing it. Graduates will earn a Bachelor of Spellcraft (Restoration)

Fundaments of Alchemy: A moderate class that focuses on the basics of alchemy and ingredients. Students will be required to learn and memorize a list of ingredient effects from the University Gardens for the final exam. Graduates will earn a Bachelor of Alchemy (Alchemy)

Runestones: Mythical or Magical: A moderate class that focuses on the study of runestones and the controversy regarding their powers. Students will be required to attend a series of lectures held on the University Grounds just outside the Mystic Archives. Graduates will earn a Bachelor of Runestone Study (Conjuration)

Military History of Cyrodiil: A hard class that focuses on the wars and battles of Cyrodiil from 3E110 to the present. Students will also learn some of the basic tenants of arms and armor and have the opportunity to participate in a real-life dig underneath the University grounds. Talk to the Archaeologist in the Excavation site if you wish to participate (Tasks will respawn after three days). Graduates will earn a Bachelor of Cyrodiilic Military History (Blade)

The beauty of the four classes lies in their open-endedness. All of the classes allow students at least five days to prepare for the test in their own way. Perhaps you decide to skip the Runestone Lectures and spend money buying the transcipt instead. Maybe you decide to study your Spellcraft book while clearing out an Ayleid Ruin. Or perhaps you decide to leave your history books on your desk until the last day of class, and then spend an hour cramming as you go. Lastly, you can take a class more than once; you won't get a double skill perk, but you will be able to enjoy the class again (great for roleplaying).

How do I Enroll?

1. Travel to the Mystic Archives and talk to Dean Marcus Jaronious.

2. Tell him which class you which to enroll in (enrollment is free of charge), then make your way down the basement to talk to the respective instructor.

3. Get your course materials, and READ THE SYLLABUS. Just like a real class, you need to know what the course expects of you.

4. Study!

5. Talk to your instructor ON THE DAY OF THE TEST!!! If you don't talk to your instructor, he will assume that you're not ready. Failure to take the test by the end of that Fredas will result in an automatic fail.

6. Take the test. You will be notified if you have passed or failed.

7. If you passed, talk to your instructor for the last time to get your diploma.

Suggestions for Problem-Solving

1. Remember that you can only register for a class on Sundas.

2. The time for the final exam ends at 11:59pm on Fredas.

3. You need a score of 60% or better to pass an exam. Every exam has 20 questions.

4. When in doubt, read the syllabus. The instructor has outlined what is expected of you.

5. Sometimes the University Lectures never occur on a certain day. If you miss a day for any reason, you can buy a full transcript of the lectures from the Runestone Instructor.

6. Take some real life notes. The dedicated might see this as cheating, but remember that the test is very comprehensive and you won't have access to in-game sources during the exam.

7. Make sure you're not running any Arcane University Overhaul mods that affect the first floor of the Mystic Archives.

The purpose of this mod is not so much to overhaul the Arcane University, but to enhance the vanilla version so that less space is wasted in pointless buildings and nuances. The four courses will require you to search the Mystic Archives for books, attend lectures on University grounds, and browse the gardens for plants. Hopefully you'll have as much fun as I did making this mod.
