You find a beautiful location on a hill overlooking an old abandonend fort, looks like a good place to set up camp. So you open up your Bag of Holding, take out your camping gear, set up your bedroll and tent, then you build a roaring fire and place your stool next to the fire so you can start cooking up some bread, meat, salad and fresh tea. You can now live anywhere in the wild with the SimCamp mod. Each new item has a unique texture or mesh, so now you can prepare yourself a feast that looks pretty sweet. Finally something to do with a lot of those ingredients you collect besides just alchemy.

Bake breads
Cook raw meat
Make salads
Make herbal teas
Portable camp with tents, bedrolls, and chairs
Salarth's Bag of Holding
Water flasks
Two merchants with increased barter gold levels
Increased chance to contract disease from beds

Personally just finding Salarth's bag of holding is reward enough to use this mod, going for a million septims dude. It is nice to be able to grab everything in sight and then sell it back in the Imperial City. Sorry, no quest to get the bag, as no one would know its' location and not go get it themselves. The bag can be found on the remains of Abu bin Az"ar, an adventurer of old who became trapped in a flooded Ayleid entrance and died. He has a decent staff in his possession also. The Ayleid entrance is just northeast of the sewer exit from the beginning of the game, underwater and near the Ayleid ruin of Vilverin.

Jensine at Good as New Merchandise and Varnado at the Best Defense in the Imperial city now level up with you. They will improve their clothing and best of all they will also have more gold to buy your stuff. It was depressing to me to sell a 7000 septim item for 800 septims, just did not feel right. Each merchant will still have a max barter amount, but it is enough to buy most unique items for a fair price, still depends on your merchantile skill.

Camping gear can be bought from Jensine in the Imperial City or DarMa at Northern Goods and Trade in Chorral. Jensine sells the rustic camp gear along with two books. One book, Outdoor Living, describes how to use the camp gear, and the other book, Alchemical Nutritionist, lists what ingredients are necessary to prepare the different foods. DarMa sells the fine camp gear, styled for the well to do.

The two books can also be found in the following residences for those who like to sneak around and find items. The Alchemical Nutritionist: Kvinchal family shack - Imperial City Waterfront District. Outdoor Living: Samuel Bantien home - Imperial City Talos Plaza District.

You can bake 10 different items using the Nord Oven: Carrot cake, Blackberry muffin, Apple cake, Leroy's meat pie, and the following breads, Wheat, Corn, Garlic, Potato, Pumpkin, and Beer.
You can cook all the raw meats using a Cooking Pot: Beef, Boar, Crab, Ham, Mutton, Rat, and Vension.
You can make 5 different salads, each with a fine or rustic salad bowl mesh: Berry, Fruit, Greens, Garden, and Spicey. There are two world meshes. The silver salad bowl produces salads that are in a fine bowl. The clay and wooden bowls produce salads that are in a rustic bowl.
You can prepare 7 different teas using the Teapot: Ginko, Ginseng, Mandrake, Lady's Mantle, Lady's Smock, Primrose, and Viper Bugloss. Each tea has its' own world mesh, the cups have different colored brew depending on the type of tea.
I changed the Mead item to Water including a new texture. I wanted water to appear throughout the game and chose Mead because it is such a nasty drink anyway.
Each food item has a beneficial quality to it. You can also use them for alchemy, but they only have a limited number of effects.
All items have icons, but only for large textures, sorry no icons for lower texture settings.

When you start the game after loading this mod, you will get a message and map marker announcing a flint quarry that residents of Tamriel know about and a map marker marking it's location. It is called the Aylieds Flint Quarry and is located along the Orange Road between Chorral and Bruma. This is detailed in the Outdoor Living book.

When building a fire, the fire will automatically rotate to either 0 or 90 degrees depending on the angle that you place the firewood, relative to the world axis, not your axis. I had to do this because I place the cookware at differnt locations on the burning fire, wanted it to look good and allow you to use all the items without them phasing into each other. To be able to do this depending only on how you lay down the firewood requires using sine and cosine functions, at least I could not figure out another way, and Oblivion does not have these functions. I realize that Oblivion Script Extender does but I wanted the mod to work for everyone, I do not use OBSE myself. Also because of this the fire may look funny, or not, if you do not place it on a relatively level surface, does not have to be perfectly flat.

To use camp gear or a salad bowl you will drop it from inventory. To use a piece of cookware or take a drink of water you will equip it from inventory. To interact with an item in the game world, you will need to be in sneak mode. To pick up an item, you will need to be standing, with the exception of the tent where either will work. When you equip a piece of cookware and then exit the menu, the same piece of cookware will appear on the fire and the cooresponding piece of cookware is removed from your inventory. This may take a couple of seconds for the script to run and perform these commands. Therefore it is very easy to equip the cookware multiple times, this does not appear to cause a problem, but should be avoided. The stools when placed have an arrow on the top of the stool that points in the direction the player will be facing when sitting. In sneak mode activate the stool and the arrow will disappear, the stool is now ready to function normally. While standing activate the stool and you will sit down.

The water flasks provide a little health and fatigue when equipped from inventory, the equipping represents taking a drink. After 5 drinks they become empty. The flasks can be refilled at most wells around Tamriel. I realize that there are some wells I missed, but I did change most. Of course I could not change any wells used in quests. The mechanism for drinking water is a little dumb, I basically have to move an object near you, activate it, and cast a spell. Bethseda did not create any commands or methods for accomplishing something like this. I did try a number of things, but this was the best I could come up with. It actually works pretty well, except maybe for the spell effect which I could not figure out if there is a command to suppress it.

I modified all the beds so that there is an increased chance of getting some type of disease. Certain diseases are associated with specific bed types. With this mod there is no need to sleep in any beds, but some of the diseases are comical and the negative effects do no last very long. So now you can enjoy contracting Brain Rot or Collywobbles.

This mod is for those who want a way to collect a lot of stuff, accumulate a lot of septims, use many of the in game ingredients for something besides alchemy, have food items to place around your living areas, and want a way to live in the wild.
