Description

This mod adds 30 quests and 3 factions to the game. Join House Valranis and work your way up through the ranks as you clash with agents of The Hunters Guild and Arcane Court. But when one of these agents makes you an enticing offer will you stay loyal to the House? Play through and decide how the story unfolds.


The Factions

House Valranis: The founders of this great House immigrated to Cyrodiil from Morrowind nearly a century ago. Over the years they've entrenched themselves in the politics of the Imperial City gaining great influence.

The Arcane Court: Also called The Arcane Tribunal by its members this group formed after Traven became Arch-Mage of the mages guild and banned necromancy. Many of the mages that left the guild sought refuge here and it's rumored The Court is also home to vampires.

The Hunters Guild: A guild made up of hunters and scouts. Most join for access to jobs hunting monsters and collecting ingredients or for training while others join to lounge in the guild hall sharing tall tales with their associates. The highest ranking members spend their time hunting vampires.

There are 30 quests in total. Your choices affect which quests you receive as well as the outcome of the main story so multiple play throughs are encouraged.


Introduction

One of my favorite parts of both Oblivion and Morrowind is the faction quests. They provide that extra sense of immersion as you meet new guild members and advance through the ranks performing tasks for them. Not only do you get a long quest line with an over arching story attached to it, you also feel like your actions matter to the people around you. It's this sense of immersion and the feeling that you're part of something that I was aiming for when I started this mod months ago. Please enjoy!


Install

1. Extract House Valranis.esp into your Oblivion\Data directory (don't be fooled by the small size of the file, you can pack a lot of scripts and dialogue into an esp file!)

2. Check the file in your Oblivion launcher.


Uninstall

Uncheck House Valranis.esp in your Oblivion launcher.


Requirements

Oblivion version 1.2.0416.

The standard mod required by any mod that adds dialogue without voice acting (believe me it's better for all of us that I didn't try to voice all the parts myself). This mod will ensure each line of dialogue stays on screen for 8 seconds (or until you click). Without it the dialogue will skip by too quickly.

Oblivion only allows player dialogue to be roughly 42 characters long. This can cause a few of the lines to be cutoff.


Final Comments

I tested this mod thoroughly but please let me know if you run into any problems. More than anything I hope you have as much fun playing through the mod as I had working on it!

Troubleshooting

Q1. I went to the Market District but the quest won't start.

- Make sure you've completed the quest "Finding the Heir". You can check this by looking for it in the completed quests tab in your quest log.

Q2. I followed Valen Bedard in Cheydinhall but he just stops in front of Willow Bank and doesn't do anything.

- Make sure you have line of sight on him once he's in front of Willow Bank. The quest updates once you "see" him enter.


Change Log

Version 1.06

-Fixed a bug on Quest 10 (if you sided with the Arcane Court) where Toran and Teebek Na didn't interact. Thank you LadyMercury for finding this!

Version 1.05

- Added 1 quest to the main quest line (if you sided with House Valranis).
- Shortened the length of a few dialogue topics to prevent them from being cut off.
- Various tweaks to some of the early quests to make them a bit more challenging and increase immersion.

Version 1.04

- Added 8 new quests. There are 2 main story quests and 6 side quests. These are all unlocked after you become Grandmaster or Tribunal (depending on which side you chose).

Version 1.03

- Fixed an issue with the skeletons for some of the beast NPCs.

Fixed a bug in Quest 10 where Toran isn't killed.
Changed Quest 9 so that Kelda no longer has to die for the quest to update.

Fixed a problem where Toran Scintus couldn't be activated which could prevent Quest 4 from being started.
