About this mod

Adds a new faction based around the dark arts, player loyal minions (and related spells), extensions to the Benirus Necromancer lair (by Vypress), a few more NPCs and a questline to create a new soul devouring blade. A longer Necromancy questline is well underway and should be ready for release in a few weeks. Check back :o)

Permissions and credits
Firstly I want to thank Vypress for permission to use his Benirus Lair mod included here. I have left his lair pretty much untouched - so you know who to thank for the excellent work!
(As an aside to people using his mod - and why would you not be?! - You should remove your items from your Lair before using this mod).

I also wish to add that the inspiration for the weapon is from Team Darkseed and their Lost Sword of the Aylieds mod. I tried to contact them but to no avail. I am unsure if this is my fault or not. Either way, to Team Darkseed: If any of you have a problem with this mod I shall take it down ASAP without complaint. Please do email me.

Finally Lord Rahl deserves credit for his amazing Cliff Resource, used here.

** ** **

Firstly this mod adds a quest to create the weapon Vecrum the Devourer. Existing game lore has been used (in places elaborated) to help the weapon feel in keeping with the game.

The weapon itself - the final realisation of Umbra as the story goes - has the unique power to summon an undead minion everytime the wielder kills an NPC with it, in exchange for a Black Soul Gem. (A soul for an ally. Sounds like Necromancer logic!)

There is another method to summon minions in the Necromancer Lair, in exchange for gold. I may up the price but it would be expensive indeed to summon a large army...

Either way the minions you can get are limited by the player infamy/fame ratings (and in the case of Vecrum, player level as well). The number of minions you can have however is NOT limited. Unless of course your computer crashes under the strain... In which case you probably have too many (just a thought!).

Each minion can be commanded as a single unit and spells are included to command all minions as a group. (See below!).

The quest itself is made for a character around level 12 - 15 and should take around an hour ... although this will depend on how long it takes one to figure out the clues - which range from exceptionally vague to rather obvious. (No quest markers are given). Clue hunting, riddle solving, dungeon crawling and good ol' fashioned slaughter should ensue! (Go prepared, some of the enemies are pretty irritating ...at least I think so *cough*).

My hint: Search Ondo.

If anyone has any problems or encounters an error please DO email me. I have played the quest through without issue but still, you may find one! Who knows?

Secondly, in version 1.5 the player can alter Frostfire glade (*after* the mission involving it has finished) to become his new lair. This links to Benirus Lair by Vypress and is in a seperate worldspace from the mission connected with the Glade. (No conflict).

The extended lair, Nightmares Vale, includes a few new NPCs, an underground arena, victims to slaughter.. and a generally creepy atmosphere. The arena can be easily stocked with critters of many shapes and sizes from two altars that sit within easy reach. (One just needs their popcorn really).

This extended lair is NOT finished yet but the above functions work well. I have released this update now to cover a small bug in the last release (it didn't break the quest...it just... bugged me is all).

Notes:
(1) The mass command spells should function only on minions in the same cell as the player. This is simply due to the way the minions are spawned/work.

(2) As it is the mass commands aren't 100% - orders are sent to a temporary chest which the minions then read from. The chest clears every 5 seconds so multiple orders within a short space of time can be ignored. If anyone has a better way of doing this I would love to hear from you!

(3) There are a few new lines of dialogue but I have no voice files .. sorry about that. Not confident in my skills as a voice actor :o)

(4) The Arena summonable critters are WILD cannot be commanded and will happily attack the summoner if he/she enters the arena. This is intentional...

(5) At this time sacrificing victims fuels only the area summon options. This will change as the mod grows.

(6) Victims are randomly generated but the rate of their creation can be accelerated via tasking minions under Varum - a new Vampire NPC that wanders about the place making it look untidy.

(?) I will add extra notes as I think of them!
