INTRODUCTION
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a mod I created to make exploring dark dungeons more fun and realistic if you use a dark dungeon mod like Cava Obscura or Let There Be Darkness. It is similar to existing drop lit torch mods out there but adds in fading torches and a lot more control over how you use torches especially if you are a stealth based character. Now you can visually tell when your torch is about to run out and your torches will not loose track of how long they have burned. If you drop or throw a lit torch that is about to go out that dropped/thrown torch will only last as long as the torch your were holding. Same with picking up a burning torch, it will only last as long as it had left when you picked it up. This mod features:

- Torches will now fade as they are close to expiring. This includes both dropped and equipped torches. Once a torch is 90% used it will be reduced to 50% of its brightness. At 95% used it will fade to 25% of its brightness. This applies to both equipped and dropped torches. Your torch life is configurable in the ini file (default is 5 min). Torch fade only effects the player. A faded torch is considered used up and unequipping it will not add it back to your inventory.

- You can either drop torches at your feet or throw them a little ways in front of you.

- There are two configurable hot keys in the ini file. One is for equipping/unequipping (Default 0) a torch and one is for dropping/throwing your torch to the ground in front of you (default 9). You can drop/throw your lit torch at any time. You can only equip a torch if you are not using a 2 handed weapon or shield. Equipping a shield or 2 hand weapon will unequip your torch and drop it.

- Torches remember how long they have burned and will no longer be reset when dropped/thrown or picked up.

- Torch weight, value, light radius, and burn time are configurable in the ini file. If no values are set, this mod will use values specified for the default oblivion torch. Burn time is only applied to the player.

- Dropped/thrown torches can be picked up and will automatically equip if applicable.

- Dropped/thrown torches will go out and disappear if dropped in water

Version 1.5:
-fixed issue where torch would appear new if torch was thrown when over 75% used.

- Disabled torches if player dead, disabled, paralyzed

Version 1.3:
- you can now choose to throw torches about 10 feet in front of you or drop them. This is controlled via the ini file.
- move ini file to ini folder in Oblivion data folder

Version 1.2:
- dropping your equipped torch will now not automatically equip a new one. Your must purposely light a new one. This aids in stealth attacks.

Version 1.1:
- equipping a 2 hand weapon while holding a torch will automatically drop it
- torch remaining time will carry over when picking up a torch and equipping it
- held torch remaining time will transfer to dropped torch if it is the last torch in inventory or is dropped while equipping a weapon. Otherwise, it is assumed player will drop a fresh torch when using drop torch key

Known Issues

- Dropping/throwing a torch while facing a wall may make the dropped torch disappear.

Installation
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- unzip to your oblivion data directory
- activate the BAKAdventurerTorch.esp
- make any changes you desire to the ini file

Uninstallation

- remove the BAKAdventurerTorch.esp
- remove the BAKAdventurerTorch.ini

CONFLICTS
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- None that I know of. No script is added to the default torch and you can configure the ini to not modify the default torch if desired.
- It is safe to add and remove this mod from an existing saved game.
- This mod uses placeatme commands but all references are deleted as they expire so this should not cause any save game bloat
