Foreword
---------------------------

Invariably I end up playing mages. So I've played my fair share of magic mods. There's one aspect of being a mage that always irritated me, tracking down someone to sell me a spell. Recently, I stumbled upon Revolucion09's Alternative Oblivion Magic System. I thought it was a great idea, for spell to just appear in your spellbook as you progressed through the game. However, I'm something of a minimalist. So having 3 dependencies for a single problem is a bit much (mind you, Supreme Magicka, L.A.M.E., and Midas Magic are all great mods.) So I set out to do roughly the same thing, just without any dependencies.

Details
---------------------------

First off, all spells are organized by "Elemental type." The game wasn't designed with this in mind so not all spells really fit, but I tried to group spells that would fall under a singal archetypical element. So at the start of the game you need to pick an element (this is done when you pick your class, if you've already started a game you can initialize the system by calling up the class menu.) Your options are Fire, Ice, Lightning, Neutral, and Holy. At the moment, only Fire and Ice are finished. The next alpha release will contain Lightning and Neutral. Version Beta will include the Holy tree branch, which isn't meant to be used unless you intend to roleplay as a priest or similar as it only has the default Restoration effects available to it (which are scattered across the magic schools.)

Most spells within a tree can be unlocked simply by improving your magical abilities. A few of the more powerfull spells require you to be in the Mages Guild. There are also a few spells that become available to anyone regardless of their elemental affinity (not yet added though.)

It's important to note that not all spell effects are available to each element. For example, the spell tree of Fire doesn't include any way to heal your health, however, it does have the ability to increase your health. The other trees have similar weaknesses. This is by design, playing one tree should feel different than the others.
