The basic idea here was to make each material (Weapons & Armor) more distinct,
following classic RPG rules (I.C.E. Rolemaster/MERP).
Several reasons for this exist.
1> Elven weapons weigh more than Dwarven?
2> Glass and Ebony (not the wood) weapons weigh more than Steel and Dwarven?
3> The smooth upwards scaling of Weapons & Armor pretty much forces you to use
the best equipment available for your level?
4> Once you get Glass and Ebony, you still need a Silver (or Enchanted) weapon
to affect Resistant Creatures (Ghosts, etc)?

-I want there to be a valid use for any material at higher levels, rather than
just wearing/using Daedric stuff....Every high level screenshot I see looks like the
same character, since they're all wearing the same Full Daedric Armor!
So, materials have certain advantages/disadvantages...Mostly Dwarven-Daedric.

So, I decided to use Steel as the base material, having a 1.00 multiplier for
all statistics, and based all the other materials from that.

I actually went and found specific densities of various materials, plugged everything
into an Excel worksheet, and let my mind roam....

I ruled that Dwarven metal is a Tungsten/Steel (1:2) alloy,
Elven is Titanium/Steel (1:1), Glass is Laen(I.C.E.), a volcanic glass, Leaded,
on a steel frame (Lead+Glass+Steel 2:5:1), Ebony (Tamriel volcanic glass,
not the hardwood) is Eog(I.C.E.), a meteoric iron (I actually used Obsidian for data,
to bring back the volcanic glass concept - meteoric volcanic glass?), and Daedric is
a Uranium/Steel (1:2) alloy...
-----------------
Fine Steel and Fine Iron weapons are slightly faster than normal due to better balance.

Silver is heavier and softer than steel, but it is magical (and therefore more in
demand than the *old* silver weapon prices would suggest)...
It's the only Resist Ignoring material until you reach Glass. -MAGICAL

Dwarven material is HEAVY, DURABLE, and more Damaging/Protective. Weapons are somewhat
shorter/wider and slower than Steel, but are more durable and do more damage.
Dwarf items are the heaviest in Tamriel, and 2nd most durable, behind only Daedric.
Dwarf weapons actually do slightly more damage than Elven, though Elven is still
ranked higher (due to massive weight differences). -NONMAGICAL

Elven material is EXTREMELY LIGHT, and the weapons and armor are long, slender,
filagreed, "delicate"-seeming items. They are, indeed less durable than one would
expect from it's "ranking" (though still better than steel/iron/silver).
Elven Weapons are faster and have more reach than "lower items". -NONMAGICAL

Glass and Ebony are VERY similar, both being high level, magical glass.
[Glass (in RealLife) forms the sharpest cutting edge available, as fine
as 1 molecule thick (mollywire!), and is still used in some heart surgeries,
where scarring is reduced by the thin cuts.]

Glass(Laen) makes the lightest weapons, and is surprisingly resilient (better than
Elf, anyway), and cuts better than any metal weapon - even the Maces and Warhammers
leave cuts! <g> Glass weapons are the fastest available in the game, and have better
reach than most (Elven and Ebony are longer). Magic is required to work Glass, and it
is soooo sharp that it is able to cut nonmaterial objects like a Vorpal Weapon
(watch your Psychic Cord!). -MAGICAL

Ebony(Eog(Obsidian)) is basically an upgrade from Glass(Laen), in all respects other
than speed - Obsidian tends to be heavier, and slightly bulkier (than Glass).
Durability and damage are improved upon, and Ebony weapons are long like Elf weapons
(more cutting edge?). -MAGICAL

Daedric Weapons are HEAVY, DURABLE, and DAMAGING. They are the most damaging weapons
available (off the rack), are the most durable (one step above Dwarf), and the 2nd
heaviest (1 step behind Dwarf).
They strike slightly faster than standard weapons due to good balance and "willful
weapon intent" - meaning the imprisoned Daedra soul senses your target and helps get
the weapon headed there.
-OR- there is a slender core tube, filled 1/3 of the way with Mercury. When the weapon
swings, centrepetal momentum (or maybe centrifugal; but I *think* it's the -petal...
-fugal is the force, -petal is the momentum added by the force?) causes the mercury to
slide toward the tip, causing that end to accelerate faster. (Read Gene Wolfe's
Shadow Of The Torturer for more on the Executioner Sword) -MAGICAL

----------------
I made similar changes to the Armors, but other than weight and durability adjustments,
they weren't nearly as drastic.

Mithril is a bit more durable than before.

Dwarf armor is still heavy, but not as much heavier as the weapons. Dwarf armor also
gets somewhat enhanced protection.

Orcish armor is one step below Dwarf in all respects other than cost (it is lighter
with only 3-4% less protection).

Elf armor weighs like Leather - it is the lightest armor other than Fur (remember,
Glass was lighter in weaponry), and has slightly reduced durability.
***I originally planned to reduce the Protection slightly, but decided to leave all
armor ratings alone, other than boosting the Dwarf slightly. This was to keep the
armor scaling a little better.

Ebony is the lightest HEAVY ARMOR (slightly lighter even than standard iron). Ebony is
slightly more protective and durable than Dwarf.

Daedric is still the most protective and durable armor, but it's the 2nd heaviest,
behind only Dwarf.

***I originally planned to vary the Durabilities more, but at higher levels, you're going
to be taking heavier hits, so I kept that scaling pretty normally.
-----------------------
In Rolemaster/MERP, Laen has magic properties; + to Attack/Damage, Easily enchanted.
Eog has Anti-Magic properties, and +Att/Dam.
Daedric is demonically possessed (STORMBRINGER!!?? No! Don't attack Meeeeeeeeee!)

***I plan on researching further, and maybe add some "magic" properties to the "top 3".
Also looking at the "Size" field on weapons, and the Bow/Arrow speeds.
--------------------------
808Klan are:
AxeMan808
Baaron808
Lionheart808
LoRider808 (Where you at, mickie-fickie!?!!?)
Mason808
Wraith808
Wolfein808
Xavier808

You can find Wraith on MMORPGs (EQ2, WoW, MxO, CoH).
You can find Axe, Wolf, and X on CS:Source.
YA CAIN'T FIND LORIDER!!!!

*****************************************************************
5. 808Mod Agreement
*****************************************************************
By downloading and installing this plug-in you agree to the following:
1) If you use my mod within a mod of your own, please give me (And Severian)
appropriate credit.

....other than that, do what you will with it :)

Questions/Comments and fellow modders welcome to contact me at
[email protected]

*****************************************************************
5.
