This is a revision of my first released mod for Oblivion, so I am open to any rational and constructive criticisms from anyone who has tried this mod.

This mod adds the Daedric Katana and Dai-katana to the game.These elegant and powerful weapons are forged from the essence of a Daedra and the finest ebony in Oblivion, then the blade is sharpened and polished to a deadly edge.

This mod comes in three ESPs, depending on where you want the weapons to be found in the game.One for acquiring the blades only from high level (20+) mobs and the Dremora Valkynaz and Xivilai.Counterparts can be found in high level fights in the Arena. but this is only for the challenge, as you still cannot loot the Arena weapons.Another ESP adds the weapons to A Fighting Chance in the Imperial City, The Hammer and Axe in Bruma, Morvayn's Peacemakers in Anvil, The Hammer and Tongs in Skingrad, and The Fire and Steel in Chorrol.Keep in mind, they aren't cheap! This is for those who do not want their leveled lists to be modified (due to other mods or otherwise).The third ESP does all of the above, just in case.

Please select only ONE ESP. If you change ESPs, chances are that if you had one of the weapons in the savegame, it will disappear and you'll have to find/buy one again.


Install:

Simply extract the zip to your Oblivion directory, and click "Yes to all".Make sure you deactivate all previous versions of this mod, and activate only ONE of the v0.4 ESPs.


Technical:

Since the last version I have made leaps and strides in my skinning skills. The weapons now have a custom icon in the inventory. I now have a significantly better normalmap for the katana blades, and also have figured out how to create glowmaps and enable them on .NIFs.This makes the blade look just as good as the hilt, but if you see anything that looks wrong, feel free to leave a comment or email me.

I made this mod using the TES Construction Set 4, DXTBmp, MS Paint, GIMPshop, NifSkope, Height2Normal.exe (from SourceSDK by Valve) and the HHD Hex Editor.The texture I created is based off the Akaviri Katana texture and the Daedric Longsword and Claymore textures, then mapped onto the original Akaviri Katana and Dai-Katana meshes, all of which were made by Bethesda Softworks.


Bugs:

None know for now. Hopefully I have made it so that the weapons now show up in the shop inventory, but if you have any trouble, tell me.Also, be sure that you have placed the textures and meshes in the correct directory.


Misc:

Finally, if you want to use these weapons in your own mod, feel free.Just give me a bit of credit for them!
