This mod modifies the scripts and AI related to the 7 Goblin Tribes of Cyrodiil. Those are the:

Bloody Hand tribe of Cracked Wood Cave.
Rock Biter tribe of Timberscar Hollow.
Skull Breaker tribe of Wenderbek Cave.
White Skin tribe of Goblin Jim's Cave.
Dust Eater tribe of Barren Mine.
Three Feather tribe of Plundered Mine.
Sharp Tooth tribe of Derelict Mine.

Each tribe owns a Goblin Totem Staff. Oblivion is intended to be capable of "Goblin Wars" between tribes who have stolen each others' totems. However, this is not fully implemented in the scripts and AI for reasons beyond me. There are ongoing wars between the White Skin tribe and the Sharp Tooth tribe, as well as the Bloody Hand tribe and the Rock Biter tribe at the beginning of the game. But while you are supposed to be able to provoke your own wars between any tribes (or even all of them), this is not yet possible without modification. This may or may not be addressed by Bethesda in a patch.

This mod alters the AI of the goblin tribes so that when you pick up a Goblin Totem Staff from their lair, their faction standings are reconfigured to favor you and combat is immediately halted. Then, their tribe's War Chief will follow you so long as you are holding the staff in your inventory (it does not need to be equipped). All of the tribe's goblins, save for the shaman, will then follow the War Chief who is following you. The result is a rather large war party of goblins who will follow you all across Cyrodiil. Of course, you can pick up multiple totems and watch the tribes clash, or lead tribes into an enemy tribe's lair.

If the tribe's shaman dies, the War Chief of that tribe will not follow you. The shaman /will not/ respawn.

If the tribe's War Chief dies, the tribe will have no one to follow and will return to their lair. War Chiefs however, do respawn, and if you are still holding their totem they will eventually return to you.

Installation
---------------------

To install this mod, copy the goblin_war_party.esp file into C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data. When you launch Oblivion, click the "Data Files" menu and checkmark the esp file's box. Launch the game normally.

Changes since 1.1

Fixed a bad condition that occasionally failed to recognize which totem staff was being picked up.

Modified shaman scripts so that they will halt combat if the player picks up the totem staff.

Added comments to the scripts in case others would like to study them.
