About this mod

The Shadow Grove is a place hidden in the North Niben Bay, carved out within the very rock of the mountains. It offers a great abode for a warrior-ranger oriented character. My first Oblivion mod, have mercy :)

(1) Introduction

--- About ---
This is my first Oblivion mod (hell, first mod in any game ever).
The general idea was to create a shelter for my characters, and since no one was going to do it for me this was only a reasonable move.
Originally I made the Shadow Grove for my personal use, but it wasn't long until it hit me: "Heck, why not publish the thing?"

So when I decided to take a dip in the modding industry I saw a perfect opportunity to create a new starting point and/or a shelter to call home.
The Shadow Grove offers the most important things for your archer-warrior oriented characters.

--- What does it do? ---
The Shadow Grove is nested in the mountains of eastern Niben Basin. It's quite hard to reach without using the custom made path which
curves up the mountain. The path connects to the road leading towards the Ayleid ruins of Malada. But you'll be fast travelling most of the time anyway.
The view from up there is simply amazing, in any time of day or night. That's one of the reasons I put it there.

Once you see the place you are sure to like it. It is in fact a clearing surrounded by rocks and trees with a lot of flat empty space (the space I intended to fill but couldn't think
of anything - other modders will surely find a good use). Outside there is a small table, an archery target and a feeding stall - as well as a blue-eyed black horse to go with it.
She has no saddle or bristle to make her speed more logical, so I think cladding her in armor would be wrong. May she safely carry you through the greatest of perils.

The entrance door is set against a huge rock overlooking it. The key is atop (note the smaller rocks on the right side which offer a way up) inside a secret rock.
Study the attached images if you have any problems.

There are several useful artifacts inside to make your life easier; a bow Starlight, a shortsword Darkfire, and the Amulet of Light and Shadow. All three are custom made,
along with their enchantments. They might seem too strong for low level characters, so if you feel like having an unfair advantage simply don't use them until you feel the time
has come. I also provided a complete set of Mithril armor, which is one of the best light protections but normally comes too late in the game. All these items combined will
serve your characters perfectly. You'll also find a storage containing potions for restoring your health, magicka and fatigue.
There's a large supply of steel and silver arrows for your archers (some are enchanted with weak fire and frost effects). What else? Hmm, there is a bed, a bookcase, a forge and
two storage chests for your stuff. Additionally, the Shadow Grove exterior offers a source of a dozen Nirnroots, as well as a new custom plant Shadowleaf (contains a base for Night-Eye and Invisibility potions).

IN SHORT, WHAT MAKES THIS MOD GREAT IS:

- the location has a beautiful view
- you are provided a place to sleep and organize
- an additional source of Nirnroot
- quality equipment and supplies
- a fast and strong horse to ride
- alot of empty space to add your own stuff outside
- both the interior and exterior are pathable for any NPCs accompanying you

(3) Additions

--- Installation ---
1) Extract the files.
2) Place the "XD_ShadowGrove.esp" into the Oblivion\Data folder.
3) Enable the mod in the "Data Files" or Mod Manager when starting up the game.

--- Troubleshooting ---
The chances of this mod clashing with another are miniature, due to the location. If, however, it does you will have to choose.
If Oblivion itself works as it should on your system, I see no reason why this mod wouldn't as well.

The icon for the Shadow Grove quest is not missing. I just never managed to create one.
