BE SURE TO DISABLE ANY PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF CALL STEED!! JUST IN CASE, BACKUP YOUR SAVED GAME OR IMMEDIATELY SAVE TO A NEW GAME WHEN YOU FIRST LOAD UP THE MOD! That way, if there is ever an issue, you don't lose something precious.

What’s New in 3.0?

CallSteed has been rebuilt from the ground up! The mod no longer tinkers with the horses default scripting, which should help to ensure compatibility with other mods. Instead, the mod influences horses via a dummy AI construct that each horse is told to use for the follow and stop commands. (This mod has been tested with Saddlebags 1.1 and it should work just fine.)

CallSteed spells are now lesser powers that cost 5 magicka each cast, so you can cast them as many times as you like and they will not increase your stats in any schools of magic.

You know longer have to buy spells from vendors; all the CallSteed components (2 lesser powers and one ring) will automatically load into your spellbook and inventory when you load a game that doesn't have them added yet.

No more cumbersome menu with all the possible owned horses listed! Instead, you will use the "Mark Steed" spell to mark up to three owned horses that be summoned later on. To mark an owned horse, walk up to the horse and cast the "Mark Steed Spell" (this is "touch" spell, so get close). The horse will be saved to 1 of 3 slots. You can then use "Summon Steed" to choose which marked steed to summon. (If the 3 slots fill up, you will have to replace a horse in one of them the next time you try to add another horse.)

No more pop-up menu when you dismount a horse, asking if you want it to follow you or not 3.0a introduces a single ring that, when equipped, tells all nearby (within 7000) owned horses to follow. When you remove it, it tells them to stay. Yes, this is similiar to the ealier ring-based versions of CallSteed, but the ring has specific sound effects attached to it to imitate the clicking sounds some people train horses with: 3 clicks means follow; 2 means stop. I HIGHLY recommend that you assign the ring a hotkey, and just hit the hotkey to toggle follow on and off. This makes it seem like your character is making the sound to attract the horses, and you don't have to open your menu, which is more immersive! Try it! :)

Additional Notes:

Call Steed 3.0a works with all owned horses, but this version does not influence the Unicorn, nor does it offer the secret quest item from version 2.5. Don't worry. There will be a version that works with the unicorn and offers a special item. All in due time! :)

This version does not work with the new Horse Armor mod from Bethesda. There aren't any conlflicts; I just haven't had the chance to code in the armored horses, and they have to be coded, because they are new entities with new names. The next update will be compatible with the Armored Horse mod. So stay tuned!

Special Thanks:

After the release of the CallSteed/Saddlebags mod, I got a ton of helpful feedback from the community, and, as always, I want to thank you all for that! I especially want to thank Xebeth, the author of the "Horse Commands" mod, because I was able to accomplish what I did here by studying and elaborating on his/her work on that mod. I also want to thank Carenzi from the official forums for all of his feedback and ideas, as well as Rob Rendell. Thanks also to MaboroshiDaikon, who teamed up with me for the combo mod release. Keep those comments and ideas coming eveyone. . .I am listening! :)

Please let me know if you find any compatability issues, and I will work on fixes for future updates.
