About this mod

Compatibility mods for Windsurfer\'s RustyItems and FineWeapons. These are meant to be used with the standalone version of Francesco\'s MOBS (Medieval Oblivion Equipment Balance System), so that Rusty Iron and Fine Iron weapons will have the unique appearance from Windsurfer\'s retexture while keeping the stats from MOBS.

DESCRIPTION

This mod provides replacement .esp files for Windsurfer's RustyItems v1.3 and FineWeapons v1.0. Rusty Iron and Fine Iron weapons will have the unique appearance provided by Windsurfer's excellent retexture, but will also have the stats (damage, health, reach, speed, value and weight) from Francesco's MOBS.

This mod is meant to be used with the standalone version of MOBS v1.2 or v1.2.1. If you need the analogous compatibility patches for Francesco's leveled creatures/items (Fran's) or Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul (OOO), these are already available; see the Other Options section below.

** UPDATE (August 2011): I'm happy to say that progress on MOBS has continued: in the past two years, MOBS has gone from v1.2.1 to v2.0a. In the process, a few small changes were made to some Rusty Iron and Fine Iron weapons. All of these changes are quite minor, and almost all of them effect secondary attributes like value, weight, and health (as opposed to primary combat attributes like speed, reach, and damage). So, I won't be releasing an updated version. I still use these mods with the new version of MOBS, and encourage you to do the same.

It includes all the functionality of my mod (i.e. MOBS-compliant stats for Windsurfer's retextured items), but also adds MOBS-compliant Mithril and Orcish weapons to the game.


MANUAL INSTALLATION

You'll need RustyItems and FineWeapons if you do not already have them:

Install the meshes and textures as usual, but use my .esp files instead. Just to be absolutely clear: the .esp files I've provided are *replacements*, not *patches*: they should be used instead of Windsurfer's originals. Load order is also important: they must be loaded *after* MOBS.esp. Otherwise, Rusty Iron and Fine Iron weapons will have the correct MOBS stats, but will revert to their default appearance (which sort of defeats the purpose).


OMOD INSTALLATION

This is the simplest solution. Just use the Oblivion Mod Manager, which will install the textures, meshes, and .esp files (and ensure that they load after MOBS.esp).

COMPARISON

For reference, the PDF version of the ReadMe file includes a table listing the default ("vanilla") and MOBS weapons stats. As expected, MOBS weapons are tougher, heavier and slower, and have a shorter reach but do more damage.
