About this mod

Scouter is a popular Japanese mod that displays health ingame in an easy to see numerical format, similiar to Japanese RPGs. I DID NOT CREATE THIS MOD. It was created by an anonymous modder on the Japanese 2ch Oblivion BBS. Since he does not mind redistribution/editing, I have translated it to English.

Scouter 0.3.1e- Actor Health Displaying Mod
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Translator's foreword - PLEASE READ before asking questions:

Scouter is a popular Japanese mod that displays NPC health ingame in an easy to see numerical format, above their heads (similiar to Japanese RPGs).
I DID NOT CREATE THIS MOD. It was created by an anonymous modder on the Japanese 2ch Oblivion BBS.

Obviously, it will ruin your immersion, so if you're concerned about that, do not use it. It may also lower the difficulty of the game by letting you know when you should flee. (although it will let you know exactly why you're dying in Kvatch at level 13 when Martigen's Monster Mod spawns three 400+ hp flame demons and two 300 hp poison Atronaches on you in addition to the default OOO spawns to kill all the 150-250ish health Imperials.)

It also is invaluable for anyone that chooses to play the game as a healer with companions.

The Japanese version would display the configuration menu in Unicode ingame, hence it was somewhat hard to use in English Oblivion installations.

Scouter has a popular texture modification mod by the Japanese modder "bnnfish" that changes the font of the numbers to something more pleasing. It can be found at http://www.mediafire.com/?7nj2o0hpy5m but the mod also includes a uv map in case you want to make your own.

Load Order -
I'm not sure, BOSS doesn't handle Japanese mods - but I normally load Scouter near the end of my load order, after the bashed patch.

Conflicts -
None known, works fine with DarnUIs (may cause doubling of healthbars but that's your setting's fault).

Translated readme:
=========================
A mod that displays the health of Actors above their heads in a numerical/healthbar format.

Installation

Requires Oblivion Script Extender v0014 or later.
Copy all files in the data folder to oblivion\data\
Enable Scouter.esp in OBMM/Wrye/Whatever and start the game.

Texture formats have been changed from the old version, hence old Japanese font/texture modifications will not work with this release.

Usage
Actors that you move the targetting crosshair over during battle (about talking distance) will have their health displayed above their head. The health information will disappear when battle is overor once the actor has moved a certain distance away from you.

Using the Lesser Power "Scouter config" (automatically added to you), you may access the Configuration menu in-game.

Conditions:
Changes the conditions required for health to be displayed above an actor. Options include - Only during Battle, Only when your weapon is drawn, and "No conditions" (displays health all the time)

Range:
Once any actor is further from you than the defined range in this setting, their health display will disappear.

Max Displays:
Defines the Maximum number of healthbars that can be displayed onscreen at once.

Autodetect:
Scouter can automatically display the health of all actors within a certain range (without requiring you to target over them). This setting controls the autodetection of health. Low detection scans only the current cell you're in, while High detection is capable of scanning adjacent cells, but more cpu-intensive (thanks to kyoma on Bethesda's forums for clarifying this).

Display Content:
Lets you decide whether you want to display Health Information as Numbers only or Numbers + Healthbar.

Positioning:
Adjust the Positioning of the health display.

Specifics/Issues:
The numbers are forcefully overlaid over the monster mesh. For certain large creatures, the display may be hard/impossible to see as it is buried within the monster mesh.

The horizontal healthbar below the numbers will change colour corresponding to the target's health.

Green:75%-100% and above
Yellow:50%-
Orange:25%-
Red:0%-

Autodetection of actors isn't particularly precise. It will randomly select targets within the specified area. Scouter is unable to give detection priority to the actors closest to you.

At the default settings of "Location: 0, Height: 150", Scouter will display Health information directly above the actor's heads. Setting location above 0 will move the display backwards while setting it below 0 will move it forwards. This can be used to make health information visible for actors with size-scaling issues, but is not a perfect solution. Applying Exceptions will fix adjust the health display for a few creatures such as Wolves and Rats.

Bugs
Turning on Autodetect may sometimes result in health being displayed in empty spaces. This is caused by the removal of a vanilla actor by a mod, even though the actor has been disabled, its information is still extant in the game data and cannot be deleted. Scouter may mistake this data for actual actor data.

Update History
0.3.1eTranslated to English
0.3.1Fixed the bug where disabled actors would be displayed. Decreased Autodetect's default sensitivity, adjusted the format for mesh and textures for the numerical display.
0.3Added Autodetect
0.2Increased the Max Display capacity
0.1.1Fixed some bugs that made the display disappear randomly
0.1Release
