About this mod

This mod is a humble but honest hommage to Joss Whedon\'s iconic TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, while trying to create a TES lore-friendly story.

For a much better experience, I suggest you to check David Brasher's 'Vampire Hunting' mod, in which he has done an astonishing job and took my own mod to another level. Thank you, David.

Kendrel - The Vampire Huntress.

- Download the Final Edition! - Feedback Me, Please! - A more fitting reward, aside the granted enrichement and all the vampire killing! -

The Plot:
The player receives a letter from the Order of Virtuous Blood written by Gilen Norvalo, in which he asks for help again. He says that a famous vampire hunter came from Morrowind and contacted them by his daughter, telling them that he discovered that a cult of vampires related to the Quarra Bloodline is reuniting with its leader, a powerful and cruel vampire which once threatened the entire existence of the Imperial City. The vampire hunter's daughter said that the pack of vampires he was tracking brought him to Cyrodill, but, not knowing the land, he eventually lost their trail and needed help. Since Gilen, Grey-throat and Jenseric are too weak to fight vampires themselves, Gilen decided to send the player a letter, asking for him to deal with this situation. The Vampire Hunter's daughter is waiting for the player at the Tiber Septim Hotel.

In order to get this quest, the Player can't be a vampire, must be level 10 or higher, must have completed the 'Order of Virtuous Blood' quest and must have joined the Order at its end. The quest will kick in after 10 days have been passed. I only playtested this quest with characters around the 20th level, but the enemies are leveled, so, I think it should work all right.

This mod is a humble but honest hommage to Joss Whedon's iconic TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, in which I tried to create a lore-friendly story and pay my tribute to the TV show. It's my first attempt at modding, so the mod's expected to have some technical issues, and, since I'm not a native English-speaker, the mod's expected to have some linguistic issues too. I tried to create an atmosphere that could be related to the series in its sense of humor, flavor and style and I hope you all enjoy it.
I took an extreme care to try to not do this quest too much masculin-based, but, since I'm a guy, I know I probably let a thing or two slip through my hands. I'm open to suggestions and always looking for improvements!
Thank you for the attention and, with the hopes you all have fun,
Daniel da Rosa.

To install:
Just download it, and un-rar or un-zip it at Oblivion's Data folder.

Compatibility:
I don't see no reason to my mod not to work with anyone's else which didn't changed the regions I did, but I think if you load mine lastly, you could play my mod properly. I changed only my own vampires a little, but not the vampirism script. However, depending on which vampirism mod you are using, the experince may change, since I only tested it with vanilla's, Scorn's and LG's vampiric mods. The first time I balanced it, I was using LAME and Race Re-balancer Project (or something, from the same creator of LAME and Integration). The battles were awesome, but, when I tried vanilla, it was impossible. Now, I think and hope I got it right.

Well, davidbudreck has done a compatibility patch for the mod to work with Verona. With the word, the maker: "There is still a very big tear in the land between your mod and Verona House Bloodlines that goes way beyond my ability or inclination to fix it. For my personal use, I load your mod last when playing through it, then load Bloodlines last after finishing. To make the two truly compatible would take more talent with land than I have". Thank you a lot, David!

Requirements:
- Tolerance to foreigners who are taking the effort to publish their mods in English.
- Elys' Universal Silent Voice (lastest version).
- Oblivion's lastest patch and Shivering Isles.
- There's a possibility that the mod requires the user to disable his borders. It's not difficult and I learnt how to do it here, at Tesnexus, at the Deserts of Anequina (fantastic) mod's readme, which now I quote: "By switching the "bBorderRegionsEnabled=1" to "0" in your Oblivion game ini file. You can find this ini in your folder My Documents/My Games/Oblivion. The setting can be found near the top of the ini file under the heading [General]".

Suggestions:
- I think that with OVBE - Order of Virtuous Blood Evolved and LG's Vampires 2.0 this mod should work really fine, since they are very Lore-friendly too. However, if you want to see real cool vampire deaths (although more Blade than Buffy), I suggest you to download the Parasite X's Vampire Deaths (or something like that).

Hints (Read this only if you are thinking about giving up):
- Kendrel doesn't know Cyrodill, nor have a fine sense of direction, but her notes are really, really, really helpful (or, at least, a small and tiny bit of them). Read them with attention. Look to Cyrodill's map.
- After getting the diary, go talk to Kendrel again. She should help you out with some other hints.
- Wooden stakes works much better against unnarmored foes. And don't you dare expect them to work on The Master.
- Take the vamps, when possible, 1 by 1. Sneaking and luring them will make your work a thousand times easier. Oh, and have a few potions with you. And fire-based weapons. Or spells.
- When you get to the main lobby, try not to fight all of them. If you find Ano Vando, talk to him or to his daughter again – whoever seems more accessible – before fighting these vampires or their master. They aren`t easily taken – unless you can find the legendary Light of Day, which makes things less frustrating.
- The Master may be hard. Or he may be the easiest boss-level ever. It all depends on the strategy used – by the computer and by you.
- Major (Ruining) SPOILER: Don't underestimate nor overestimate Kendrel. She`s bad-ass, truly, but she's beatable.

Known Bugs (so far):
- SPOILER – Kendrel won't follow you when you get to the first corridor of the Engulfed Temple for an unbelievably mysterious reason. After you pass through it, she'll follow you.

Credits:
- Sangre, for his Silver katana.
- Dragon Caption and Ghogiel, for the Ordinator armor.
- Duke Patrick, for the vampire-staking script.
- ICUP, for the texture used on the stake.
- Greaver117, for his Shadow Lord Assassin Armor.
- If I used something which was done by someone else, let me know, so I acknowledge them properly.

Thanks to:
- Joss Whedon, for all his oeuvre.
- Bethesda Softworks, for obvious reasons.
- Tom Dawson, for being my master, thanks to his beginner's guide at the TES CS Wiki.
- PacificMorrowind, who taught me – and still teaches me – a lot.
- The few guys who Pmed me and gave me some feedback. If it weren't by them, I wouldn't learn half of what I did in the end and I wouldn't have motivation to keep it up.
