About this mod

the length of the stagger effect in oblivion is unrealistic, it happens at random, and is not affected by the damage you take or governed by any attributes. Since i lack the patience and skill to create new animations, i just modified these kf files to replace stagger. they are originally shield block animations.

Since i lack the patience and skill to create new animations, i just modified these kf files to replace stagger. they are originally shield block animations.

Npcs humanoids and player will use these animation.
they are much shorter than the original stagger animation:
so instead of wobbling back almost falling over, you will just see your character hold up block briefly, for

0.2 seconds vs 2 seconds.


note:

this changes stagger, not recoil. Recoil is when you hit someone who is blocking.
This does not reset your current animation, simply replaces the stagger with a sorter one.

omod installation:
just put staggerReplace omod in your obmm/mods folder and activate it in obmm.

omod uninstallation:
deactivate it from obmm.

Installation if you don't have obmm:
unzip and extract the files to your data folder.

uninstallation, rip out the files extracted to your data folder. they should be in

data\meshes\characters\_1stPerson\ Handtohandstagger, onehandstagger, staffstagger, twohandstagger.
and
data\meshes\characters\_male\ Handtohandstagger, onehandstagger, staffstagger, and twohandstagger, swimstagger.
