This mod adds 10 scripted magic abilities for your character.
- Interrupt attacks and spellcasting, or knock down vulnerable enemies.
- Slow down or deflect incoming magic projectiles.
- Grab an incoming magic projectile and shoot it as your own.
- Guide and speed up your own magic projectiles.
- Stop incoming arrows.
- Strip weapon, shield, and quiver from vulnerable enemies.

This mod requires Oblivion Script Extender (OBSE). This mod was compiled with OBSE 18, and it absolutely WILL NOT WORK with an earlier version of OBSE. You can download OBSE here: http://obse.silverlock.org/

LONGER DESCRIPTION
==================
This mod adds 10 rings to the game. When equipped, these rings give you scripted defensive and offensive abilities, which are all based on telekinesis and spell manipulation. All of the magic in his mod belongs to the mysticism school.

As your mysticism skill increases, more rings become available. Also, the magnitude and/or range of the ring effects will increase.


Apprentice level rings. You must have at least 25 magicka for these to work.

SHOVE: Press and hold GRAB while aiming at an actor.
If the actor is not alert, does not have a weapon ready, or is staggered, then you will knock him down. His disposition towards you will decrease. You must wait 10 seconds before shoving again.
If the actor is attacking, he will recoil. You must wait 3 seconds before shoving again.
If the actor is casting a spell, the spell will not be cast. You must wait 3 seconds before shoving again.

SLOW MAGIC*: Press and hold GRAB while facing a magic projectile. The projectile's speed will decrease. If you hold down GRAB longer than 0.75 seconds, the ring will have no effect.

STEER**: Press and hold GRAB after casting a magic projectile. Your projectile will face the direction you are facing.
(Note: Your projectile will only turn left or right, not up or down.)


Journeyman level rings. You must have at least 50 magicka.

FAST MAGIC: Press and hold GRAB while shooting a magic projectile. The projectile's speed will increase to (original speed * modifier).

FISH: Press and hold GRAB while facing an arrow in flight. The arrow will fall to the ground. You must press GRAB after the arrow is shot. If you stop the arrow, it will disappear 0.5 seconds after you release GRAB. You will not be able to stop another arrow until the grounded arrow disappears.

STRIP EQUIPMENT: Press and hold GRAB while facing an actor.
If your target is knocked down, he will drop his weapon, shield, and quiver.
If your target is staggered, he will drop his weapon, shield, and/or quiver - whichever items are facing you.
If your target does not have a weapon ready and is not hostile, then he will drop his weapon, shield and/or quiver; he will call guards (if they are nearby); his disposition will decrease as if you had stolen the item; the dropped item will be illegal to pick up; and the dropped item will be flagged as stolen if you pick it up.
If your target does not have a weapon ready and is hostile, he will try to kill you. The dropped item will be legal to pick up.

TURN**: Press and hold GRAB while facing a magic projectile. The projectile will turn away from you. If you hold down GRAB longer than 0.75 seconds, the ring will have no effect.


Expert level rings. You must have at least 75 magicka.

DEFLECT: Press and hold GRAB while facing a projectile that is about to hit you. The projectile will deflect away. If you hold down GRAB longer than 0.75 seconds, the ring will have no effect.

HOMING**: Press and hold GRAB while aiming at an actor. Your most recent magic projectile will turn towards your target. (Note: Your projectile will only turn left or right, not up or down.)


Master level rings. You must have at least 100 magicka.

REDIRECTION: Press and hold GRAB while facing a projectile that is about to hit you. The projectile will disappear. If you have held GRAB for less than 0.75 seconds and release it, you will shoot the projectile through your crosshair. If you do not release GRAB before the 0.75 second mark, the projectile will instead hit you and you will lose all of your fatigue.
If you hold down GRAB longer than 0.75 seconds without grabbing a projectile, the ring will have no effect.


* To slow down fog projectiles (like frost magic, for example), you must aim at the caster, the caster must be within range, and you must press GRAB during casting, or else it won't work.
** Steer, Turn, and Homing don't work with fog projectiles.


How to get the rings
--------------------
Buy the spells from an NPC named Waffy in Mystic Emporium in the Market District of Imperial City. When you cast a spell, the associated ring will be added to your inventory.

If you are unable to buy the spells from Waffy, you can use the following console command to add the spells to your spell list:
startquest dmquestaddspells


How to use the rings
--------------------
This doesn't work like normal spells in Oblivion. With Doc's magic, you "ready" the ability by equipping the ring, and then you "cast" the ability by pressing GRAB. For example, if you want to be able to turn away enemy fireballs, you need to equip the "Doc's Turn" ring, and then press GRAB whenever a fireball is coming your way.

You can equip two rings at a time, so you can mix and match whatever ring effects you want to use.

Your weapon must be out, or else the rings will not work.

INSPIRATION
===========
I started this project because I was unhappy with Oblivion's magical defenses. In the unmodded game, all magic defenses were passive; in contrast, I wanted magic defenses to be about anticipation and reflexes. Therefore, you need good timing to use my defensive rings. Later on, I tweaked some of the code to make offensive options too.

I made them rings because I think constant effect enchantments are kinda lame. Instead of stacking buffs, why not give yourself a couple cool new abilities instead?
