Release notes:

This mod adds a new katana which I made using this tutorial

http://www.escalight.com/tutorials/3dsmax-tutorials/creating-japanese-sword-katana-part-1.html

Link will be usefull for those who are interested in modeling of sword.
Find this katana in the Catacombs of "Sancre Tor" (a large fort north of Chorrol).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After modeling you might want to add your model to the Oblivion game. In that case you should read carefully my brief instruction.
Exporting a sword to the Oblivion game is way not as difficult as modeling. You just have to save your mesh as *.nif (using nif tools plugin to 3d max7) and open it in NIF scope (easy to find and download this program in the internet). Then you should extract the original Oblivion game sword (in Escalight katana mod I used Oblivion's Akaviri katana). Extraction may be performed with BSA unpacker (easy to find as well). Then you should open a new window in Nif scope by File->New window. In the new window open extracted from Oblivion sword and remove NiTriStrips brunch (right click on NiTriStrips-> Remove Brunch). If the sword that you have extracted from Oblivion has a scabbard (NiNode Scb) revove it as well. Then copy NiTriStrips brunch from a modell that you've creatad in 3d max and exported to *.nif format (by right click on NiTriStrips-> Copy Brunch). Next you should press right click on NiNode of the window with the original Oblivion sword and Paste Brunch. Scale and rotate the sword if needed so it would fit the orange stipes more or less. Next you'll have to import a texture file to your sword by clicking on a "+" left of NiTriStrips an "+" left to NiTexturingProperty and a violet flower icon. Browse the location of the sword texture.
Texturing described in the Escalight site are NO GOOD, you should paint a texture in Photoshop previously creating a normal map by using Unwrep UVW in 3d max and Texporter plugin to 3d max.
The texture should be in Oblivion\Data\Texture\Weapons directory , nif mesh should be in Oblivion\Data\Meshes\weapons directory. After puting a texture dds file on your sword you should remove a part of the path to a texture dds file (in my case "d:\games\oblivion\data\textures\weapons\escalight'skatana.dds" should be shortened to "textures\weapons\escalight'skatana.dds"). After this action the texture will disappear from your mash and it will become white again. Don't bother about that, the texture will be visible in game. To texture dds file should be made a normal map, file with the same name and "_n.dds" at the end. Normal map can be made with Photoshop_Plugins_7.83.0629.1500. After puting a texture file to your sword just save it to the Meshes folder of the Oblivion\Data directory.
Now to Oblivion Construction Set! Load Oblivion.esp and wait until it loads the files. In the Object Window press on "Weapon" and in the list of weapons that apeared press right button -> New. In the window that apeared press on Add Nif File and browse the *.nif file that you saved in NIF Scope before. Fill the parameters that your sword will have (name, speed, damage, ID...) and press OK. It is not necessary to add icon image (uless you have 64x64 *.dds picture without mipmaps generated). In the Cell View window doubleclick some game location and simply drag the ID of the sword that you have just created from the weapon list to Render Window. Save your work and start the game. In Data Files put the mark to the left of the *.esp file that was created after saving in the Construction Set. Start the game and go to the plase where you have put a sword and find it.

If you have some questions about adding your model to the game then type it in the comments to my Escalight Katana mod.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Installation:

Extract the file and copy the "Escalight'sKatana.esp" file,"\meshes", and the "\textures"
folder into your \Oblivion\Data directory. Don't forget to mark the Escalight'sKatana.esp
player file in "Data Files" before you start the game.

P.S. Dont judge strictly (unless you are an expirienced modder).
