I found that armor and weapons were breaking far too quickly so I brewed up
this simple modification.

The DurableEquipment_*.esp make your weapons and armor last longer during battle.
The HarderRepairs_*.esp make your repair hammers less effective, balancing the
above modification.

Each of the Modifications come in 4 different flavors
DurableEquipment_2 makes both weapons and armor 2 times more durable.
Similarly HarderRepairs_2 makes it twice as difficult to repair armor.

Warning: Only use one of each *.esp type.

I recommend DurableEquipment_10 and HarderRepairs_5 personally but
that is up to you.
