=== Cultural Secrets ===

Version 1.1
September 21, 2008

= Overview =

This mod adds minor spells known to each race of Tamriel, and reflective of their cultural upbringing. What distinguishes these spells from the minor and major powers granted to different races is that these can be taught to outsiders: if the PC befriends a member of a given race (Disposition > 80), he or she will teach the PC that culture's secret.

There is unvoiced dialogue in this mod; you should use it in conjunction with Universal Silent Voice by Elys:

The mod is also more fun if you play with Persuasion Overhaul, which makes that 80 disposition a lot harder to reach.

= Mechanics =

* The PC will receive the secret of his or her chosen culture upon finishing the tutorial.

* Other secrets can be learned through conversation with members of other cultures.

* Each spell has a short duration and some have side effects, but their magicka cost is reduced and most are quite handy.

= Installation / Uninstallation =

Install by placing the file "Cultural Secrets.esp" in your Oblivion/Data folder and activating it under Data Files in the Oblivion launcher menu. On loading a game (or finishing the tutorial), you will see a message box telling you that you have learned the secret of your culture.

Uninstall by removing the .esp file. The spells and the conversation topics will disappear from the game.

= Compatibility =

This mod should have no incompatibilities. It adds the spells through a Quest, and no base objects or resources are modified.

* SPOILERS! SPOILERS! SPOILERS! SPOILERS! *

* Altmer can teach Perfect Body, a technique for cleansing the body of diseases, poisons, and deformities by infusing it with magicka.

* Argonians can teach Burst of Speed, a charm for escaping from predators underwater.

* Bretons can teach Healing Trance, a meditative technique for restoring health an magicka while the body shuts down.

* Bosmer can teach Sureshot, a charm that boosts Marksmanship significantly just long enough to aim and fire one arrow.

* Dunmer can teach Deceptive Charm, which boosts disposition for a short time, then lowers it as the target realizes he's been had.

* Imperials can teach Marching Song, which allows steady marching carrying heavy loads when it is sung continuously.

* Khajiit can teach Firewalk, which renders the caster impervious to heat and flame for a few seconds but leaves the feet tender.

* Nords can teach Fist of Might, a great yell that augments a blow with the hand.

* Orcs can teach Smash Weapon, a maneuver that can shatter an opponent's weapon but damages your own as well.

* Redguards can teach Ephemeral Feint, a fighting technique that throws your opponent off guard for a few seconds.

* END SPOILERS *

= Changelog =

v 1.1

* Spells changed to minor powers, some are immune to Silence (but not the ones that logically require speech)

* Restore Magicka effect removed from Healing Trance (this would make it too easy to be an Atronach)

v 1.0

* Secrets dialogue options now disappear once you've learned the relevant secret.
