~ "There are many caverns in Cyrodill. Most think they are isolated little holes in the ground, but in truth, there is a whole world underneath us, one to which we know very little of. Some of that world has been charted, some has even been settled, but there is always more. There is far more down there, in the dark, waiting to be found.

Sometimes I shutter to think what will happen when it finnaly is uncovered..."
~Andara Teral

For hundreds of years, the ancient people of the world were fascinated by by the underground. At first, they gently probed it, testing the waters. But soon, the tunnles spread, the natural and the man-made becoming indistinguishable from each other. Deeper and deeper they dug, diving farther into the foundations of the world then anyone was ever meant to. They uncovered treasures the likes of which no one had ever dreamed possible, until at last it seemed as if they could go no further and then, in an instant...

They were silenced.

Thousands of years have passed sense then. Their great works left ruined and buried by time. As the ages went on, many would uncover parts of their legecy, bits and pieces of the things they left behind. Whispers spread among the lowest of the low, the poor and fugitives soon made the darkness their own, a place to hide from a world that didn't except them. Very soon the full scale of their underworld became known. They maped and charted it, setteling in to its every corner.

It is the 27 of Last Seed, the Year of Akatosh, 433. These are the closeing days of the Third Era, and the final days of peace in the dark.

A shadow will rise. A hero will fall. Be careful not to lose yourself in the Below.

~ The Blow is a massive expansion to Oblivion, which adds a interconnected system of tunnels and ruins that run under the entire province of Cyrodiil. There are many, many gates to this underworld scattered around the area, and the distance between them is the same in both the tunnels and on the surface, providing a consistant and realistic experience. However, there is much more then just more of the same old tunnels down there. Everything from ancient ruins, to colonised cities, to the fires of the deepest Pits of Creation is strung together by both a consistant dungeon-styled world, and a gripping story of a ancient darkness from the First Days finally starting to rise again. It also implements a full Commentary Mode, a first for Oblivion, which gives a detailed in game account of the mod's creation.

~ There is a possibility of lighting errors.

~ Some times when loading a save, the screen will appear as a graphical error, with a message box asking to 'Powder' or do nothing. Though I don't remember which one, a mod that I have does something with powdering gems. However I'm not even sure if this issue is a result of The Below or not. Until I know what causes it, just click do nothing.

~ Other then that, it doesn't conflict with anything I know of. Anything that makes a lot of radical changes to the entire weather system, or makes dramatic modifications to several exterior cells (where the gates are located) could cause problems. If you have any questions about possible conficts or serious problems make a post and I will try to get back to you as soon as possible. Remember, this is still an Alpha, its far from anything even closely resembling completion.

~ J.R.R Tolkein and Peter Jackson, for creating and then representing (respectively) the Mines of Moria from Fellowship of the Ring, the location from which this project received direct inspiration. My family for understanding all the late-nighters I've had to pull to make this thing work. Bethesda for making such a wonderful game, then letting us add our own little pieces to it. And finnaly to you, the community, whose continued excitment, enjoyment, and contributions keep Oblivion alive. You know who you all are.

Now let's depart, the Below is waiting...
