Um, what does this mod do?
----------------------
A mod that tracks the usage of specially selected weapons and armor and makes the player better at using them the more they are used. Eventually the weapon or armor itself becomes better, even magical, as well.

Installation & Uninstallation
--------------------------------
The usual- esp goes in data directory. Activate. To uninstall, deactivate and delete. This mod installs no other files.

*Changes to the weapons and armor are permanent even if you uninstall the mod. If the name of the weapon is changed its permanent. Prior to the name of the item changing, all perks added are spell abilities and this will be removed when the mod is uninstalled.

Requirements
------------------
This mod REQUIRES OBSE 14a or better. Get the latest version at http://obse.silverlock.org

Using the Mod
-----------------
On first load, you will receive 2 new items in the misc inventory: +[Weapon Specialization] and +[Armor Specialization]

To chose a weapon (any except staff), cuirass or shield for specialization simply equip the item and select the appropriate +[ ___ Specialization] menu item. A menu will pop up listing your currently selected items and/or empty slots and the difficulty settings.

To specialize with your currently equipped item either select an empty slot or select a listed item that you want to relace with it. Note that you currently can't replace an item once you get to the stage where its name is changed so if you are TESTING the mod with the testing difficulty keep this in mind and SAVE before getting started.

Once you select a slot you'll see a confirmation menu asking “Is this a recently enchanted item?”
Select “No” if this is a new item. That will erase all usage tracking for that slot and assign the new item to that slot.
Select “Yes” if this is a previously specialized item that was kicked off the list when it was enchanted. This will assign the new item to the list and KEEP the usage tracking data.
Select the cancel option if you've accidentally hit the wrong slot or wish to cancel for any other reason.

The weapon menu has 8 slots and any weapon can go anywhere. The armor menu has for slots labled C1, C2, S1, S2 for the 2 cuirasses and 2 shield slots. Selecting one of the cuirass slots will add your currently equipped cuirass while selecting a shield slot will add your currently equipped shield.

The difficulty settings is currentlly a guess at what might be reasonable levels of usage. The options menu will show your current difficulty level and selecting it will give you an additional menu the change it. The number (200, 500, 1000, or 5) represents the base number of uses for an item before the next level of specialization is reached. More details below.

Ideally the Normal (500) would be about right for a vanilla game set at reasonable difficulty. Easy would be for power gamers that just want to get to the point or for higher level characters just getting started and wanting to catch up. Difficult would be for mods like OOO that increase the amount of time it takes to level up and/or where you do a LOT more fighting than in the vanilla game. This is the main element that needs to be tested as the values are currently guesses. Adding more values is easy if need be.

What does Specialization Do?
------------------------------------

Once an item is chosen for specialization the mod will start tracking how much you use it. Shields are tracked as one use each time your block skill increments while the shield is equipped, everything else tracks 1 use each time the health of the weapon changes. Depending on your difficulty setting it will then add bonuses and improve the weapon as you use it more. There are currently 5 levels of specialization.

Level 1: Chosen (tracks 1x difficulty)
- Tracks damage but offers no bonuses.
- Any item of that type can be picked up and used.

Level 2: Familiar Item (tracks 1x difficulty)
- Any item of that type can be picked up and used.
- Adds "Famillar" bonus ability when item is equipped
- Familiar Blade: Fortitfy Blade 2
- Familiar Blunt: Fortify Blunt 2
- Familiar Bow: Fortify Marksman 2
- Familiar Light Cuirass: Fortify Light Armor 2
- Familliar Heavy Cuirass: Fortify Heavy Armor 2
- Familiar (either) Shield: Fortify Block 2

Level 3: Specialized Item (tracks for 2x difficulty)
- Any item of that type can be picked up and used.
- Adds "Specialized" bonus ability when item is equipped
- Specialized Blade: Fortitfy Blade 3 & Block 3
- Specialized Blunt: Fortify Blunt 3 & Block 3
- Specialized Bow: Fortify Marksman 3 & Sneak 3
- SpecializedLight Cuirass: Fortify Light Armor 3 & Sneak 3
- Specialized Heavy Cuirass: Fortify Heavy Armor 3 & Speed 5
- Familiar Light Shield: Fortify Block 3 & Light Armor 3
- Familiar Heavy Shield: Fortify Block 3 & Heavy Armor 3
- Bonuses are cumulative with "Familiar" bonuses

Level 4: "My" Item level (tracks 3x difficulty)
- Only this specific item will give bonuses
- All previous bonuses still apply
- You'll get a message customized to your level of fame or infamy.
- Weapon can now hit ethereal beings if it couldn't before
- Increases weapon damage and speed by 10%
- Increases armor AR rating by 10%
- Decreases armor weight by 10%
- Changes name to "My (Item)"
- Can no longer be removed from specializaton (I may delete this pending testing and putting in safeguards against accidental removal.)

Level 5: Legendary Status
- Only this specific item will give bonuses
- All previous bonuses still apply
- You'll get a message customized to your level of fame or infamy.
- Increases weapon damage by 20 and speed by 10%
- Multiplies armor AR rating by 3
- Decreases armor weight by 20%
- Changes name to "My Legendary (Item)"

(Level 5 Note: the bonuses are huge. This is to simulate the item taking on a kind of magical nature without actually adding an enchantment to it.)

Advances in familiarity will trigger when the usage level is reached AND the player is not in combat.

Issues / Bugs
-----------------

There are no bugs that I'm aware of. Everything works as its intended to. There are some known issues:

- Balance: the difficulty settings could be WAY off.
- Enchanting: Enchanting a specialized item will remove it from specialization and it must be manually reset.
- The customized messages need to be edited.
