Feel free to use this sword in your modules without
asking me about it so long as you give me credit for
the effort that went into modeling and texturing it.
I'd also appreciate it if you let me know before
you release the mod (and maybe e-mailed me a copy,
mods are awesome), but you don't have to if you don't
want to.
------------------------------------------------------
Installation:
Extract talon.rar to the Data folder in your Oblivion
directory, usually located at
C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data
------------------------------------------------------
This mod includes two two-handed and one-handed swords
that can be purchased at A Fighting Chance in the
Market district of the Imperial City. The damage
setting is intended to make the weapon competitive
in OOO without making it more powerful than some
of the weapons found therein. Feel free to edit the
attack power and whatnot in the Construction Set to
meet your needs (not that you need my permission).
------------------------------------------------------
Creation Notes:
This module was mostly a forced learning experience,
not just in making graphics mods for Oblivion, but
in UV mapping, normals, and texturing in general. I
used (and learned) Blender because I'm tired
of Autodesk's predatory licensing system and because
I really like the idea of open source software. I was
pleasantly surprised by how easy Blender is to use,
as well as at how powerful and well documented it is,
and wish its developers the best of luck in their
future endeavors.
I'd also like to thank all the modders out there for
putting their work on the net. Much of what I learned
through this experience was gleaned by studying other
people's textures and reading some of the tutorials
some of the community's more daring individuals have
seen fit to put out there.
Finally I'd like to thank Bethesda for continuing to
provide development tools to its community, and hope
they continue the trend in the future. I cannot be anything but grateful for the fact that they continue to support the free and open modification of their games.
Created from an original sketch
