About this mod

Makes pilotable sailboats available in all port towns. The sailboat has a cabin, as well, so it can be used as a (very small) player home. It can be sailed manually or you can fast travel to any of the port towns. Travel to other worldspaces is possible with customization. COBL version adds The Luggage and an Alchemy Sorter to the cabin.

Update: There is now a COBL version that adds The Luggage and an alchemy sorter to the cabin. Even though OBSE is not in its name it STILL require OBSE and also, of course, COBL. Use only 1 esp.

Note that if you are already using the non-cobl version and want to swtich you'll want to take everything out of the cabin and hold or they will disappear when you switch versions.

Issue: I forgot to remove the test boat I've been using and will fix that in a future update. For now, if you use the free boat to the side of the Small Craft Dock in the IC Waterfront you MUST travel with it (manually or fast travel) before entering the cabin. Otherwise when you leave the cabin you'll find yourself in a Very Strange Place way underwater when you exit the cabin. This isn't a bug- that boat just shouldn't be there and the marker used to get you out of the cabin is placed by buying the receipt or when you exit travel mode. Sorry for the oversight.

Description
===========
Makes pilotable sailboats available in all port towns. The sailboat has a cabin, as well, so it can be used as a (very small) player home. It can be sailed manually or you can fast travel to any of the port towns. Travel to other worldspaces is possible with customization.

Location
========
The sailboats are for sale in the following places:
Anvil: Norbert Lelle's
Bravil: The Fair Deal
The IC: Jensine's
Leyawin: Borba's

When purchased the sailboat can then be found at a Small Craft Dock close to town on the water. A map marker will be placed to help you find your "new" sailboat.

You can only purchase 1 sailboat. Whenever you anchor or dock the sailboat a map marker will be placed to Help you keep track of it.

Details
=======
There are 2 modes, and 2 corresponding meshes, for the sail boats.

The Anchored Sailboat
---------------------

There is a static "Anchored Sailboat" with the sail folded against the mast. This is what you will find when you purchase the sail boat.

You can do several things with the "Anchored Sailboat"

- Activating the Anchored Sailboat in sneak mode will give you the following options:
1) Access the hold. This will open the hold of the boat.
2) Go below deck. This will place you in the cabin of the ship. See below for more information.

- Activating the sailboat when not sneaking will give you the following options:
1) Sail manually. This will place the boat in sailing mode and will unfurl the sail. See below for more detail on sailing the vessel.

2) Travel to X. This will do several things:
- calculate how much time passes based on your distance from the selected port
- place you in god mode to prevent hunger and thirst mods or vampirism from having negative effects.
- place you and your sailboat at the selected port's Small Craft Dock and remove god mode.

(Note that the mod will currently DISABLE god mode if you are in it already. This will be fixed when OBSE .0015 is stable)

The Sailboat (sailbable mode)
----------------------------
Moving around in the sailboat is similar to moving around in every other aspect of the game.

- The mouse steers the boat. Simply look the direction you want to go and the sailboat will come about.
- To look around without changing course go in to sneak mode.
- Holding down "W" (or your custom Forward control) will accelerate the boat forwards
- Holding down "S" (or your custom Back control) will slow the boat if you are moving forwards and accelerate you backwards if you are stopped.
- Holding down "Space" (or your custom Activate control) will slow the boat to a stop.
- "Enter" will anchor the boat. You'll then find yourself in an Anchored Sailboat and a map marker will be placed at your current location.

Fast travel is disabled while in sailing mode.

You can access the hold of the boat while sailing by activating it. Be aware that there is another invisible object there needed for the sailing scripting so pay attention to your crosshair as it will tell you when you are looking at an activatable part of the boat.

The Cabin
---------
When you go below deck you will find yourself in the very small cabin of the sailboat. There is a bed, several drawers built into the furniture, several cabinets and a small table. The drawers under the bed and shelf are very low so you may have to sneak to reach them. All containers are safe to use and do not respawn.

There is also a small stool for sitting at the table. It greatly reduces the amount of space in the cabin so if you use a mod that gives you placeable stools I highly recommend that you disable it via the console and use the placeable stool instead. Doing so will give you access to the shelf in the corner above the table.

Removing Meshes and Textures:

This mod makes use of Mr Siika's excellent sailboat meshes. The anchored boat mesh is shared with any other mod that uses this mesh so only remove it if you are certain you are not using another mod that requires it. I have edited the sailing version mesh so it is safe to delete if you are lo longer using this mod.

Known Issues or Bugs
====================
1) Sometimes the boat will falsely "run aground" shortly after the start of manual sailing. Sometimes steering a different direct will fix this, but frequently you have to anchor the boat (enter key) and start over.

2) When you select "Manual Sailing" the boat should convert to the sailable sail out model and automatically place you in sailing mode. Sometimes, however, you must activate the boat again to place it in sailing mode. If this occuers be aware that the collision for the sailbable boat is not correct: the boat moves forward and slightly to the side but the collision stays in place. To activate the boat again you simply have to hit the spacebar again without moving.

3) Companions cannot travel with you or enter the cabin. The cabin is simply too small. If I can figure out how to make it so companions can come with you I'll certainly update the mod.

4) Collision and running aground is wildly inaccurate. You can sail right over small rocks and run the front of the boat into the ground without consequence. It looks silly, however, so I recommend that sail as if these things are the life threatening hazzards that they should be. The mod is set this way at the moment to avoid false "run aground" messages and if/when I can figure out how to make this system work correctly I'll fix it to be more realistic and hazardous.
