About this mod

These rings allow you to live a double life. You can scrub off all your infamy and crime and then put them back on again later if you want to. Requires OBSE http://obse.silverlock.org/

I'm not playing Oblivion anymore (got sucked into Age of Conan). Feel free to take my work and extend it if you want.

There are two items that are added to your inventory when you start your game with this plug-in enabled. One ring will 'absorb' all your infamy and petty crime statistics (Thieve's Guild Ring.) This includes your faction affiliation and rank. If you want to run a quest that can't be done while you have infamy or can't because you belong to the Thieve's Guild, this will remove those statuses until you put the ring back on and leave it on.

The other Ring will again remove and remember all infamy and in addition flags you as a murderer while you wear it (so you can get the invitation to the Dark Brotherhood without killing anyone.) This ring also removes all murders from your miscellaneous statistics though not your number of NPCs killed when you remove it along with your faction data with relation to the Dark Brotherhood. If you accidentally kill someone and then wear and remove this ring without sleeping, you will never get the invitation to the Dark Brotherhood. Each ring is aware of the other and its own infamy. When you remove one, it will remove all infamy from you unless you are wearing the other ring in which case it will leave that much alone. The one bug I know of in the rings is that they don't always play correctly with the Gray Cowl of Nocturnal. I don't touch the Cowl's script so it isn't aware of what the rings do. If you wear both at the same time, the infamy of the cowl will go up and there is at least one way to get your infamy to go to a bizarre negative number by fiddling with them. This is likely to destabilize your game so make SURE you reload to an earlier save if you play with the rings and cowl both. If you are careful you can also combine these with Reneer's disguises, they were certainly inspired by them.

Be careful with uninstalling this mod. If you want to keep all your stains (infamy and crime statistics), just wear the rings for your final save. If you want to be left with nothing 'evil' in your statistics then leave them off in your final save.

Each ring provides some skill boosts and some Chameleon to make them worth wearing during covert activities. The one thing that isn't touched is rumors, so you will still hear about your dark deeds from NPCs unfortunately.
