Continuing Oblivion Gates - Because you can't have Oblivion without... Oblivion.

[minor spoiler warning ahead!]

Throughout the main story we are told that the dragon fires and the emperor form a barrier between the planes of Oblivion and Tamriel. We also know from the storyline, the background story, and previous games that the Daedra lords make occasional visits to Tamriel. The various Daedra shrines that you can get quests from could be seen as one such manifestation where a Daedra lord speaks directly to you.
Martin also mentions that before the Emperors death, only "fleeting" visits to Oblivion was possible.
It is also obvious that the Mythic Dawn must have been able to learn something new about the barrier during the time between the emperors death and the end of the main story. They were also in possession of the Amulet of Kings for much of that time, and had time to study it along with it's influence on the barrier. And have in fact become better at opening the gates to Oblivion.

Ii is also pretty obvious that such a powerful faction as the Mythic Dawn and Mehrune's Dagon himself, wouldn't just instantly give up on the invasion once the main story ends. They came so close, they aren't about to give up now.

This mod allows Mythic dawn agents to reopen the oblivion gates. But they can only gather enough force to penetrate the barrier once, so only one gate at a time is possible. And they can't keep them open for very long, the barrier will eventually overcome their spells, so the gates can only stay open for 24 hours.
