The Rune Stones now give runes to the Player that can be used when needed to conjure bound armor and weapons rather than having a bound spell cast on the Player at the Rune Stone. Also, special Rune Stones have been added to the Oblivion plane that will grant a special rune that can conjure a full set of bound armor. The original bound spells have been altered to increase their duration and to better match the armor type with the type of bound weapon.

There are six runes that can be gained by visiting and activating the Rune Stones. Each has its own particular rune(s) that it grants to the Player.

The Rune Stones grant their runes only once a day and you cannot accumulate more than one of each type. If you have an unused rune in your inventory and activate the Rune Stone for that type of rune you will receive a “The stones sense an unused rune and return to sleep” message. The Reman and Hestra stones will not grant another rune if the Player has the other one in his/her inventory. I have made the runes quest items so that Players cannot remove them from their inventory (and cheat to get more than one at a time). You can also only be granted one rune per day per Rune Stone. If you activate a Rune Stone that you had previous gained a rune from earlier in the day you will receive a “The stones sleep and rest this day” message.

The runes themselves are “scrolls” and thus are a one time use item and are used like scrolls to cast their spells. They can be used at once, or save them until needed. It should be noted that unless you are at Master-level for Conjuration (100) you cannot “stack” their effects. If you attempt to use a second rune while still under the effects of the first you will lose it without casting its spell (discovered during playtesting). The duration of the runes’ effects are rather lengthy (8 minutes for all except Bow & Cuirass (4 minutes) and Daedric Armor (2 minutes) so be aware of that if you have more than one rune to select from. Also, remember that sheathing or changing weapons will cause the bound weapon to dissipate.

The Dagoth Rune Stones are a new addition to the game and are found in a few spots in the Oblivion realm. Unlike their Tamrielic cousins, they require an offering (Daedric Heart) before they will grant the Player their rune. If you do not have a Daedric Heart in your inventory you will receive a “The stones sense that you do not have an offering. Return when you have the Heart of a Daedra” message. In all other respects the Dagoth Rune Stones behave like the others.

This mod was made with the Oblivion.esm patched to 1.20416 (Shivering Isles expansion) so it probably will require it.
