Martigen's Monster Mod and Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul are both fantastic mods, and with the use of the "Mart's Monster Mod for OOO.esp" included with MMM they work extremely well together. However, there are a number of issues, such as:

1) As a rule, if both mods change the same thing then you'll only get the changes from one of them - usually OOO. For instance, the standalone version of MMM adds a series of new scripts and loot lists for guards, but these are not included in MMM for OOO since OOO includes its own set of guard changes.

2) If one mod adds something new, it won't be affected by the other mod. A prime example of this is creature leveled lists; both MMM and OOO add many of their own unique lists, and new creatures from one mod won't be on any new leveled lists added by the other.

3) In some circumstances, the combination of the two mods can lead to peculiarities, inconsistencies, and even (usually minor) gameplay imbalance. For example, MMM adjusts existing necromancers and adds a range of necromancer variations representing different ranks, and OOO also adjusts existing necromancers and adds new necromancers to increase their variety. The result of this is you could have a supposedly low ranking necromancer who's three levels higher than any of the top ranking necromancers (excluding the bosses)!

The aim of MMM and OOO: Unity (either MOU or Unity for short) is to address these problems. Creatures, NPCs, items, leveled lists, and so on will be manually combined and tweaked, with the result (hopefully) being a more seamless integration of MMM and OOO.

MOU also includes some brand new tweaks and additions to the game, all designed to improve and expand upon the changes and additions made by MMM and OOO. These include additional changes to existing items, creatures, etc, as well as a select few new ones.

Note that Martigen has offered to integrate some of MOU's changes (particularly those involving leveled lists) into MMM for OOO itself, so future versions of the mod will likely see certain things removed as well as added.

While still in beta, MOU will take the form of numerous individual .esp files, each covering individual types of creatures and NPCs. Once more work and testing has been done and the project is ready to leave the beta stage, everything will be combined into a single .esp.

The current version of the mod includes changes to adventurers, amazons, hungers, imps, guards, necromancers, ogres, trolls, and rusty items. Details on individual components can be found in the included document "MOU.doc".
