Smokeable Pipe Mod Readme:
==========================
Version: 1.2
Release Date: 9/3/07
Author: Ssenkrad
Animation: sarkandar

Description:
------------
This mod adds a smokeable pipe and a tobacco pouch to the player's inventory.

Requires version 1.2.0416 of Oblivion. Get the latest patch at http://www.elderscrolls.com/downloads/updates_patches.htm.

Also requires Oblivion Script Extender (OBSE) version 0010 or higher. You can get the latest version of OBSE at http://obse.silverlock.org/.

Installation:
-------------
Copy the XSPipeMod.esp file and XSPipeMod.bsa file to your Oblivion\Data folder. Chose "Yes" to overwrite if asked. Activate the XSPipeMod.esp file from the Oblivion Launcher/Data Files menu. Launch Oblivion with the OBSE_Loader.

=======================================================================
*** Special Upgrading Instrucions for Version 1.2: (Please Read!!!) ***
=======================================================================
Those upgrading from earlier versions should delete the following directories from their Oblivion\Data folder:
Meshes\Characters\_male\IdleAnims\XSPipeMod
Meshes\XSPipeMod
Textures\XSPipeMod
Textures\Menus\Icons\XSPipeMod
The files contained in these directories are now packaged in the XSPipeMod.bsa archive.

The first time you launch Oblivion after installing the updated files, open the setup menu (StartQuest XSPipeModMenu in the console), and choose the "Toggle NPCs Smoking" option, and choose between the two options on the next menu. This will initialize the new variable.

Useage:
-------
After installation, a pipe and tobacco pouch will be added to the player's inventory automatically. In order to smoke the pipe, you'll first have to prepare the tobacco. To prepare tobacco, you will need a mortar and pestle, and tobacco in your inventory.

First, select the tobacco pouch in your inventory. You'll get a message box telling you how many portions of tobacco you have prepared to smoke (called Loose Leaf), and the option to grind more. If you choose to grind your tobacco into Loose Leaf, you will get two portions of Loose Leaf for each tobacco ingredient you grind. The tobacco pouch can hold up to 20 portions of Loose Leaf at a time.

Once you have some Loose Leaf prepared, you can smoke the pipe by selecting it in your inventory. When you smoke the pipe, your character will begin playing an animation. The animation lasts 60 seconds by default (see "Opening the Menu" section for changing the duration of the animation). It is important that you are aware that your character will be frozen while the animation is playing. The animation can be aborted by switching to sneak mode. Smoking the pipe will fortify your fatigue by 20 points for 120 seconds.

It is also important that you be in Third Person mode before the animation begins and while the animation is running. If you happen to forget to switch to Third Person before starting the animation, the script will switch you. Also, if you accidently switch to First Person while the animation is playing, the script will switch you back to Third Person.

Opening the Menu:
-----------------
To open the Pipe Mod's Menu, open the console (press the ` key (the key just above the Tab key)) and type:

StartQuest XSPipeModMenu

Then hit Enter and close the console.

From the Menu you can change the length of time the animation plays, toggle whether NPCs occasionally smoke a pipe or not, or replace a lost pipe or tobacco pouch.

It's pointless to carry more than one pipe or tobacco pouch at a time. They will simply stack, but function the same as if you have only one. You can only have a maximum of 20 portions of Loose Leaf whether you are carrying one tobacco pouch, or 10 tobacco pouches. That's just the way the scripts are written.

Uninstalling:
-------------
Deactivate the XSPipeMod.esp, and delete it.
Delete the XSPipeMod.bsa file.

Version History:
----------------
1.0 (released 7/2/07)
- Initial Release.

1.1 (released 7/4/07)
- Icons now work for all resolutions.
- Fixed the smoking animation while riding a horse.
- Deactivated the "Activate" keys while the animation is playing. Prevents issues with the animation.
- Removed the GetAttacked condition from the scripts. Those who are stuck in this state can now smoke the pipe too. Be aware that getting attacked NO LONGER automatically aborts the animation. You can only abort the animation by going into Sneak Mode now.
- Changed the color of the smoke to white.
- Moved the animation files to Data\Meshes\Characters\_male\IdleAnims\XSPipeMod\. Those upgrading from 1.0 can safely delete the following two files:
Data\Meshes\Characters\_male\IdleAnims\XSSmokePipe.kf
Data\Meshes\Characters\_male\IdleAnims\XSKillAnim.kf

1.2 (released 9/3/07)
- The animation was slowed slightly, the character now pauses briefly between puffs.
- Fixed the smoking underwater bug.
- The pipe is now "hotkey-able"
- NPCs now have a slight chance to smoke a pipe while playing their eat package. This is optional, and can be toggled off from the setup menu.
- Data files are now contained in a BSA archive file.

Known Issues:
-------------
There seems to be an issue with the Seductive Idles mod. If you are running Seductive Idles, you will only be able to smoke the pipe while sitting down. I'm looking in to resolving this...stay tuned.

Since you cannot enter Sneak Mode while riding your horse, there is no way to abort the animation. You just have to wait for the timer to run out. Use caution when smoking and riding.

Credits:

First and foremost, I want to thank sarkandar for doing the animation for me. The animation is the core of the mod, without it the mod would be useless. I simply assembled the skeleton, sarkandar put the flesh on the bones and brought it to life.

Thanks to belinda for fixing the icons.

A very big thank you to Kirel for figuring out how to get the NPCs to smoke the pipe.

Thanks to all the folks at the BGS Forums who held my hand through this. This is my first serious attempt at modding, and I started it as an exercise to learn scripting in the Construction Set. I also ended up learning a little about making meshes, and applying textures to them. In essence, I had no idea what I was doing when I started, and learned from their advice as I went along.

Thanks to behippo and ianpatt for OBSE.

And thanks to all the folks that contributed to my [WIPz] thread, especially those that offered suggestions for improving the mod. They helped make the Smokeable Pipe Mod better.

Finally, a special thanks to Bethesda Softworks for making Oblivion.

Legalities:
-----------
You are welcome to include this mod in a compilation, so long as both myself and sarkandar are credited for our work, and the mod and this readme are not modified. If you wish to modify the mod for redistribution, I request you ask my permission first.
