Alchemy Expansions:
Essence Extracter
v1.0

by haama
Elder Scrolls Forum Thread
===================

So you've become a master alchemist and now know enough about your ingredients to create a potion from just one. However, you are still inexperienced at extracting the magical essences, and can only create potions with the core effect of the ingredient. Use the Essence Extracter, and with experience you will be able to pull the lesser effects from a single ingredient. Use these essence extracts to create one-ingredient potions, or mix them with other ingredients as you see fit.

You can use this mod even if you're not a master alchemist. All skill requirements are optional (see below).

See the pictures for a brief tutorial.

==========
Using the mod
==========

At the Master level of alchemy you can create one-ingredient potions. However, the potion will only have the first effect of the ingredient, making it little more than a 100% wortcraft. The Essence Extracter will create a new ingredient (essence) with only the effect of your desire (from the original ingredient), with which you can turn into a one-ingredient potion.

The Essence Extracter will be added to your inventory when you start playing. You'll find it in the misc. section of your inventory. Click on it and a list (container menu) of your ingredients will be shown. Select the ingredient you wish to extract an effect from. A new list will pop up with several different options. Click on 'Options' to open up the options menu, 'Change Ingredient' to go to the previous list, and 'Create # effect essence' to create an essence. The create button will bring up a menu that will let you select how many essences you would like to make. When you're finished, exit the list (again, it's a container menu, so just click 'Exit').

At first you'll only be able to create essences of the first effect of an ingredient. As you continue to use the Essence Extracter you will be able to create essences of different effects. At default, the required skill levels are 100, 105, 120, and 150 for each new effect. "But, I can't force alchemy over 100!". There is an experience system within the Essence Extracter that keeps track of how many essences you've made and your alchemy skill will be "increased" (at least, for the Essence Extracter) by one level for every 5 essences you make.

You can also have an Essence Extracter that doubles as an apparatus (select from options menu, see below). Use this if you want to create potions right after creating essences. Your ingredient list will only show essences, to make them easier to find. You can change that in the options menu (see below).

Options - You can enter the options menu by selecting 'Options' while creating an essence or by opening up the console (default ~), and typing in StartQuets AEEEOptionsMenu. Here, you'll have several categories of options:
'Help/Read-me' - adds an ingame help book to the player.
'Alchemy skill requirements' - set the levels for each effect (or remove the requirements completely).
'Creation options' - Two options:
'Set the default number of essences to be made' - after clicking a 'Create # effect essence' a menu will pop up asking how many to make. This option lets you set the number that first appears when you enter this menu.
'Refresh the number of ingredients after creation' - The number of ingredients in your inventory will be shown in the second list. After you create some essences, you can either press a button, or set it to automatically refresh. Automatic refresh will have a visual of exiting to your inventory first, so it's your choice.
'Essence Extracter as Apparatus/Misc.' - let's you decide which Essence Extracter you want.
'Apparatus options' - Two options:
'Use in combat' - set whether you can create potions in combat. This is set for all potion creation.
'Show all ingredients' - set whether you want to see only essences or all ingredients when you return from the Essence Extracter (and have used the apparatus version).

Installation/Conflicts/Etc.
===========================

Requirements - This mod requires at least OBSE v.0011 to use. Please visit the OBSE site to download and for more information.

Installing - Extract the .zip file to your ...\Oblivion\Data directory. Fire up the Oblivion Launcher, select Data Files, and check off "Essence Extracter.esp".

Conflicts - all new material, so there shouldn't be any conflicts.
Compatibility - This will work with any ingredient added by any mod.
Known Issues - You will be unable to extract any script effects. Don't press "Take All" while extracting, the ingredients that you see aren't really your ingredients, but if they get mixed up with the ones in your inventory then Oblivion starts to confuse them, so don't do it.
