Imperial Assassin (pre-built). MW-Morag Tong. 10/2008

Both Pelena and her sister Selvia were raised in moderate luxury as the only children of the Baron Valeius in Cyrodiil. Pelena Valeius however is nothing like her sister. While her sister trains to be a noble and honorable knight, Pelena chose a slightly darker path. A path which, to Pelena at least, is very similar in that the end results are the same. Her sister would rather defeat a rival in an honorable duel in the arena, while Pelena would rather stick a poison dagger in a rival's back in the dark. The end result is the same is it not? Why would the method used to achieve the goal make a difference? Well it doesn't in Pelena eyes. The means to an end are just that, no more, and whatever it takes to get the job done is acceptable. This is a point of strong disagreement between her sister and herself. They do both however love the Empire and all the Imperials stand for and are very proud of their heritage.

Pelena has always hoped to work for the Empire more directly, possibly as a member of the Blades, or even indirectly as a member of the Dark Brotherhood. It seemed like fate was on her side when some men representing the Empire in some fashion interviewed Pelena and her parent as length. They mentioned that they had need of Pelena in Morrowind. They wouldn't give any details of the mission but they promised that she would be inducted into the Blades once she arrived there. That's really all she needed to hear and she eagerly accepted.

Her trip to Morrowind was a little more eventful than anticipated. She discovered at the last minute that she was to go on a prison ship, as a prisoner, to avoid any scrutiny. While they took all her possessions they assured her that she wouldn't have any problem fending for herself in Morrowind and that the other Blades operatives would be there to help her if needed.

Soon she was off the boat with a package to deliver to someone in a city named Balmora. No mention yet of who her Blades contact is, but she assumes she'll learn more in Balmora. For now she'll simply do as told.

Pelena Valeius quickly made her way to Balmora ... traveling on a giant bug. Haven't these people ever seen a horse? As she viewed the wildlife along the path as they traveled it would appear that they haven't. After getting some basic supplies and ... bug armor (more disbelief) she hunts down the person she is to deliver the package to. In no time at all she finds the home where Caius Cosades resides.

She wonders to herself what the head of the Blades would look like. She images a tall, dark and mysterious figure, wearing a hooded cloak and speaking in a low husky voice, ... (she opens the door) ... or it could be an old, half naked man with a skooma addiction. By the Nine!

Pelena nods her head in disbelief as the old man identifies himself as Caius. He takes the sealed package and then offers to make her a Novice in the Blades. She hesitates for a moment, but then acknowledges that this is what she wanted, so she accepts the offer. She is not certain how soon it would be before she regrets it however.

For being an old skooma addict Caius did seem to know a lot. He suggested that she get some more experience before doing his missions and gave detailed information on all the various factions in Morrowind.

The Thieves Guild might be interesting, but just seemed a little too easy to her. She wanted something a little more dangerous. Joining the House Hlaalu was more up her alley since she was raised on a Baron's estate herself. The House seemed to be on good terms with the Empire and outsiders were welcomed to join. In reality, the Morag Tong were really more into the danger filled dark missions she wanted, but since she wanted to join the Dark Brotherhood one day she knew that any association with the Tong would ruin those chances.

How could this happen! Pelena Valeius looks again at the corpse lying before her. Judging by the armor worn there is no doubt this person was sent by the Dark Brotherhood, but why? She had no enemies back home and she has only been in Morrowind a few days. She just joined House Hlaalu, but surely she hasn't made any enemies there yet. One thing for certain was she needed some help. This assassin failed, but he nearly succeeded and others will be coming. Pelena decides that the only real option available to her is to join the Morag Tong here in Morrowind and use them to protect her. Perhaps by working through the Morag Tong she can discover who it is that wants her dead.

The Morag Tong became her family. She was readily accepted into their group and was given missions right away. She did find however as she traveled she could not stop herself from stopping to talk to the children of the land (Emma's mod). She would find herself going to the shops and buying dolls and candy to give them when they wanted it. She thought to herself that this was an odd action for a trained assassin to do, but she realized that she really didn't care as she grew to love many of the children as if they were her own. This love however, was not healthy for the mental state of mind of an assassin.

During one mission for the Morag Tong she was executing a writ like any other on some woman in some town who wronged somebody, she really didn't care anymore. After the deed was done however she found the woman's child soundly sleeping in the next room. The dread of what she had just done overwhelmed her. For weeks she wouldn't take any writs and she tried to lose herself in drugs and strong drink. It wasn't until a child she knew called out to her as she was walking down a street that reality started to sink back in. The child wanted a doll, but Pelena didn't have one with her. She went to the next town to a shop where she knew sold them. While there she decided she needed to let the Morag Tong know where she'd been. They were glad to have her back and had a writ waiting for her. She was going to refuse, but her money was running low and it looked like the names on the writ were for two brothers, themselves killers.

She took the writ and went to the villa where she was told she could find them. She found one in the basement and was going to execute the writ, but then the other brother, hidden from her before, struck her from behind and paralyzed her. As she fell face down on the floor before her she could feel the daggers of the brothers going into her back, yet she didn't feel any pain. She thought near the end of how this must have been what it was like, what her own victims would go through. Then her final thoughts were that there was a little doll in her pocket that would never be held by a child ...
