About this image

(Pictured Above: a map representing the various factions found in Hyperia and their holdings, city names hidden to preserve element of surprise in final mod)

For many centuries, the Four Houses were kept united by a lineage of just and powerful kings. In that time, the nation of Hyperia was then known as Valtyrania. But then an evil Plague came upon the Mountain from which the royal family ruled, and that Kingdom was no more. The Palatîn of House Caromor and the Dragonknights of House Dagavere, their most loyal stewards, fought valiantly to preserve the Capital, but were ultimately forced to withdraw from the summit of Kings' Mountain and then quarantine the mountain pass from whence they came. Today, the the Old Kingdom of Valtyrania is no more, and the New Kingdom of Hyperia is more a loose confederation than a true unified nation, with each House accusing the other of jealous treachery. The whole Realm stands on the brink of civil war..

House Caromor = Blue

House Caromor is the religious House of the Palatîn. They are easily identified by their ornate armor and architecture, holding a fervent belief in the Guardian and wholly dedicated to spreading their holy faith throughout Hyperia. Although they occupy the most territory throughout Hyperia, and most of their members are Hyperian, their political origins actually lie with the majestic Arkanites, a nation of legendary holy knights and priests far to the north of Hyperia, whom they have lived alongside as students for generations, for it was the Arkanites who introduced the faith to the world. They also held a close relationship with the royal family of Valtyrania, serving as the king's most elite troops and personal bodyguards, until a catastrophic Plague ended the Kingdom forever. House Caromor naturally rose to claim the ashes, although none but the warriors of House Dagavere appear to respect that claim. They were the closest to the king at all times, and so naturally, there is suspicion that they had engineered a massive power coup at the behest of their northern lords, using the Plague as a catalyst.

House Eboran = Gold
House Eboran is the wealthy House of the Horsemen. They were renowned for contributing some of the fastest, toughest cavalry to the armies of the Old Kingdom. Today however, they live to serve none but their own. They are prolific traders, dominating passage to the golden plains of Arunor to the southwest, a Realm they were known for settling and taming in ages past. More recently however, they were known for seceding from the Kingdom and declaring themselves the independent nation of Arunor. For a time, there was even a brief civil war, until the Plague conveniently wiped out the Kingdom and ended hostilities indefinitely, allowing Arunor to develop in peace. In their desperate want for freedom, could they have conspired to use the chaos of the Plague to end the life of the king and all his sons?

House Dagavere = Red
House Dagavere is the proud House of the Dragonknights. House Dagavere produced most of the infantry for the armies of the Old Kingdom of Valtyrania, and, today, they do the same for House Caromor. The knights of Dagavere have always been loyal to king and country, and a great many Hyperian champions came from this House. In the foothills of King's Mountain, the Dragonknights live on, honing their skills and tempering their steel for frequent sorties with the Undead up above. They appear to be obsessed with collecting relics of the Old Kingdom and Hyperian culture, and are known for producing songs envisioning a unified Realm. In their mad hunger for power and the glory days of yore, could they have worked alongside the Palatîn in seizing the Plague's potential for genocide?

House Traihad = Green
House Traihad is the subtle House of the Rangers, small and not particularly known for displays of zeal, power or wealth. They are simply a band of survivalists who live on the edge of the Realm. In ages past however, the Valtyrian kings would frequently recruit them as archers, spies and assassins. This fearsome reputation made them the source of a popular conspiracy after the Plague apparently claimed the lives of the royal family. There have been several notable deaths throughout the Houses since then, and it never failed that House Traihad drew suspicion, though the secluded House claims to have disbanded their noble order of assassins long ago. There is certainly an enemy among them, and few would deny that the House of Rangers definitely possesses the means and the knowledge to engineer such an elaborate crisis.
