About this image

Of course, you already know that Arunor is the realm this mod will be set in. Still, every now and again, it's nice to step back and see the big picture.

Here's another world concept map, now with biome descriptions and a new realm: Kherad. Tyrendar has been moved to Arunor of course (and there it shall remain), but the Iron Coast of Kherad was one of my favorite regions out of the last version of RoA, and so I brought it back as a full-fledged realm all on its own. Not only was this a beautiful tribute to progress, but it helped create a more obvious tail shape for the continent, which is something, if you recall, that is a signature of all my world map designs. This part of the world is supposed to look like the tail of a dragon, of which the northern realm, Nordan, is supposed to wrap around about halfway and appear to form the body of. It's just a thing -- dragon symbolism has been in the Arkania universe for at least four years now.

Notice also that the mountain-valley realm at Nordania's southern border has been named 'Maloria' in honor of a previously developed zone bearing similar geography. Also, 'northern Hyperia' now has a proper name: Valtyrania.

..which brings me to the next topic, Hyperia: The continent has been renamed Asuron, after the world, which I felt made better sense if this were all the indigenous races knew. Although no longer the name of the continent, Hyperia will remain the name of the remnants of the human-controlled republic that dominates the continent. However, in-game, since the Republic has long fallen, Hyperia will more often be used as the name of a common culture and ethnicity rather than a common nationality.

Valtyrania was naturally chosen as the name for the more northerly realm in tribute to its capital, Valtyria, and the rich history behind the realm's origin, which involved Mankind's Aldari ally and hero, Valtyr. Also, fun fact: Valtyrania was the name of this entire fantasy world many years ago, when all I had developed was the story surrounding the heroic character of Valtyr. So it's nice to see the name re-emerge. This project truly is a living organism; it's constantly evolving and taking the best traits from its previous versions.

As for me, I'm still working hard on the book itself, and a more modern PC should be within reach very soon. Which means only awesome things for the mod.
