Yeah, I had this big purple "island" in the middle of the bay when I downloaded SI but didn't activate the esp file. Good times. My best guess would be to uninstall and then reinstall both vanilla Oblivion and the CS to revert it back.
The trouble with SI is it does not come with a plugin. Its changes and additions are directly incorporated inside a replacement "Oblivion.ESM", the " DLC Shivering Isles.ESP" is empty and has only one purpose, to trigger auto-load of the likewise named BSA files.
If you remove the BSAs but do not revert the "Oblivion.ESM" back to pre-SI also, the SI contents will still remain inside the game records, but the SI resources they try to load will be missing.
I for one don't know of any way to "deactivate" the Shivering Isles DLC in a clean and safe way at all. Perhaps the Installer coming with the DLC has some means to restore your game back to pre-SI, but apparently in your case no such thing was utilized.
Yea, my hope was to replay the DLC by temporary deactivating it. Thank you for explaining this. Now I understand why I see all the SI things in CS every time I open something with it.
