Thanks a lot, naritete and (what a surprise^^) Tesa!
I'm happy that you like my/our works!

Nice video, Tesa. Thanks for the link!
I know about these techniques. It's "somewhat" more difficult to carve out such a relief (3D) image but one can create some really cool effects with this technique!

    quote frome the video:
We use... ...paring knifes in all shapes, sizes and COLORS...
    / quote

Yes guys! More fun with colorful knifes!

      Thanks a lot my friend!
This year we bought and tried some special pumkin-carving-tools. With the small saws included in that set it is really easy (and a lot fun) to carve some more detailed patterns.

I'll send your nice comment to all participants!

PS. Wait for the glowing Nehrim symbol, next year! That will be cool! (The template is already cut out)

.. a template? I thought you're probably using something similar. I'm sure the Nehrim-symbol will also look great. Btw. how long does this artwork endure .. also wie lange hält denn so ein Kürbis?

Yeah, I printed and cut out an Oblivion (and an Nehrim-) symbol and transferred it onto the pumpkin.

As for the "lifespan" of an carved pumpkin:
At first it depends on where you place your pumpkin (indoors in the warm or outdoors in moist weather). On the internet one can read about many different methods to preserve a carved pumpkin, f.e. here: http://www.myscienceproject.org/pumpkin.html

(also: some people say that it's better to soak them over night in the bathtube (a little disgusting - if you ask me!
), others say it's better to dry them out slowly, at least 3 or 4 weeks before carving.

In general it is said that (with a proper preservation) a carved pumpkin can survive for 3 weeks at longest.

We did none of these preservation-things and placed all of them indoors. From my experience I can say that in a normal (or slightly cooler) tempered room they tend to get moldy after about 3 to 5 days. After 1 and a half week they don't look that nice anymore and it's almost time to toss them out.

thanks for the info .. I thought the lifespan would be longer

Wow! you've carved so many of them! It seems like you have a really great time together on this holiday. So great. Really cute designs, too. Oblivion looks no less scary than the other monstrous images. But my absolute favourite is the little geezer with white beans (stones or whatever the name) spilling from its mouth. Your Pumpkinhead is gorgeous too. One of the best real life collections I've seen.

    Happy Halloween!

Many many thanks, my friend! I'm really happy about your kind comment!

The very first pumpkins we carved 2 weeks ago (which can be seen in the next to last image) are very moldy now, so yesterday we spontaneously decided to carve some new ones, because today we have a little Halloween-and-Birthday party.
      Cheers!

PS. ...oh, and that little geezer spits (pukes) out some pumpkin seeds. We had collected and dried almost all of the seeds from the first pumpkins.
