Well, it's a sound idea and could be an excellent picture. I agree with the others about the red coloring but I think that just too much of the picture is black. You need quite a bright screen to be able to see her surroundings. It wouldn't make much of a difference except that you can see the lanterns to either side of her and that sort of implies that you should see the area the character is standing in.

Like Roxdad says, red really looks good with the shadows.
You may, also, try to move the character to the right or left , a step or maybe two, during the game, take some screen shots, and than compare them and see witch one looks better.
