She was broken.
As she crept into what seemed to be some sort of temple-area, she had been spotted. She wasn't making any noise, and the creature was facing the other way, but it didn't seem to matter. Its groaning quickly alerted the ruin's other inhabitants, and she found a spectre of some kind cutting off her escape route. She could only attack so quickly with a bow, and before long, was overwhelmed. They were immensely strong, and her shots hardly seemed to cause any harm at all. No matter how she struggled or squirmed, there wasn't even a second's respite from the endless gnawing and tearing. By the time she finally died, she could hardly feel it at all.
