Oblivion

The spawn rates for the jewels isn't exactly like other leveled lists in vanilla game. Other leveled lists generally give you gear fitting your level only, whereas the jewel lists have a chance of giving you a jewel appropriate for your level, but also you have an equal chance of getting any jewel that is lower than your level.

The jewels are ordered by tiers, same as sigil stones. There are 5 tiers:

  • Level 1 characters may find them; example jewel: Fire damage 5pts on strike / Resist Fire 15pts
  • Level 6 characters may find them; example jewel: Fire damage 10pts on strike / Resist Fire 20pts
  • Level 11 characters may find them; example jewel: Fire damage 15pts on strike / Resist Fire 25pts
  • Level 16 characters may find them; example jewel: Fire damage 20pts on strike / Resist Fire 30pts
  • Level 21 characters may find them; example jewel: Fire damage 25pts on strike / Resist Fire 35pts

Example 1: You are level 40 and can find any jewel in the game (tier 1-5): You have an equal chance of finding any jewel between tier 1 - 5 from a chest if a jewel is chosen to spawn.

Example 2: You are level 5 and so you can only find any jewels in tier 1: You have an equal chance of finding any tier 1 jewel from a chest if a jewel is chosen to spawn.

Example 3: You are level 16 and can find any jewel in tiers 1-4: You have an equal chance of finding any jewel between tier 1 - 4 from a chest if a jewel is chosen to spawn.

The jewels are not guaranteed to spawn in any chest which may contain them. There is simply a chance for the jewels to be found in a chest which may contain them. The chances are different depending on the type of chest.

Some examples:

  • A mythic enemy BOSS chest has a 50% chance of containing an enchanted jewel.
  • A mythic enemy NORMAL chest has a 5% chance of containing an enchanted jewel.
  • A tomb enemy BOSS chest has a 35% chance of containing an enchanted jewel.
  • A tomb enemy NORMAL chest has a 0% chance of containing an enchanted jewel.
  • A marauder enemy BOSS chest has a 25% chance of containing an enchanted jewel.
  • A marauder enemy NORMAL chest has a 0% chance of containing an enchanted jewel.

This convention models the conventions set in place in vanilla oblivion for finding magic items. I chose to follow this convention in order to stay consistent with the balancing. Of course, useful jewels do have a lesser chance of appearing due to my implementation, but I consider this a good thing, bc I like games that make you GRIND for good gear.

Okay, that's all. I need a break!
