Oblivion

Everyone knows about load order and how important it is. What is often overlooked is the order in which mod packages were installed to begin with. For things like texture replacers and patches, this is especially critical since the wrong order will mean the wrong models and textures will be displayed in the game.

First things first, you need to make sure the game itself is installed with any official DLCs you want.

1. Install the game.
2. Install the official DLCs if you have them.
3. Install Knights of the Nine.
4. Install Shivering Isles.

If you have a Game of the Year Edition, you likely don't need to do anything else. Once Shivering Isles is installed you should already be fully patched.

If you don't, then install the latest official game patch to bring you up to version 1.2.0416. Make sure you install the right one, as there is one for standard Oblivion and one for Shivering Isles.

Install Wrye Bash (or OBMM, but gack!)

Once these are done, the following package install order should be followed in most cases:

1. Install the Unofficial Oblivion Patch.
2. Install the Unofficial Oblivion DLC Patches if you have any of the official DLCs installed.
3. Install the Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch if you have Shivering Isles.
4. Install QTP3 Redimized.
5. Install the UOP350+QTP3 Patch.

Steps 4 and 5 are only needed if you're planning to use Qarl's Texture Pack. If you are not, then skip those and you'll be done.

    How I managed it.

    1) Follow everything in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3r0C7fC3F-s

    2) Go to where Oblivion is located, not the game directory, but where it's located.

    3) Directly below the "Oblivion"" file, should be "Oblivion Mods", click on it.

4)There should now be two files, "Bash Installers" and "Bash Mod Data", click on "Bash Installers".

    5) Now bring up your unzipped unofficial patch folder, and transfer it onto "Bash Installers".

    6) Run Wyre Bash (one of the things you downloaded from the video).

    7) Once Wyre Bash is started, click on the installers tab. If a pop up asks you to enable the installers tab, or something along the lines of that, accept. If you don't get that pop up, right click on the empty space of the installers tab, and look for the word enabled among the list, and then click on it. There should be a tick to the left of the word "enabled" once you've done that.

    8) Then the unofficial patch should show up in the white space with a red sqaure to the left of it.If you do not see this, restart Wyre Bash, by quitting and running it again, and go back onto the installers tab and it should now be there.

    9) Click on the "Unofficial Oblivion Patch", and accept anything that comes up. The red sqaure should turn green.

    10) Go onto the Mods tab and three new folders should have popped up.

    "Unofficial Oblivion Patch.esp"

    "Oblivion Citadel Door Fix.esp"

"UOP Vampire Ageing & Face Fix.esp"

    11) Tick the boxes to the left of all three of them, and that's it, now just start up Oblivion.

Is there a step by step video somewhere that's basically "how to install the unofficial oblivion patch for dummies? I'm not very tech savvy and i'm having so much trouble trying to get this installed through wrye bash. I've read everything in the comments below and nothing is working. I've searched online for video of just "how to install the unofficial oblivion patches" and I cannot find anything straight forward. Spent over three hours trying to get this to work last night but i'm not closer to getting them installed now, than I was last night.

Put the archive in the installer tab (you can drag and drop); when it's there, right click on it, select Install, say OK to whatever bash says, done.

for someone who has never installen an oblivion mod, this is useless. The UI of the obmm does not have any "install mod" option and I have no idea what to do here :D

You shouldn't use OBMM anymore. It's severely outdated. The best way to go about installing and managing mods right now is with Wrye Bash, or a combination of Wrye Bash and Mod Organizer 2 if you really want. Dispensation's Comprehensive Modding Guide can help get you started with this. Check out the Modding Tools, Core and Bashed Patch sections of it for very useful information on modern tools and methods for managing your Oblivion installation and increasing game stability. Good luck! I hope this helps. :)

Tried several mod managers; none seemed to work properly, and now Wyrebash is giving me some python error messages and missing dlls. Jesus, what a headache, all this frustration in order to run an old-ass game that looks abysmally bad; I'll probably just wait for Skyblivion to come out in 2045 or something.

What version of Windows are you using?  I had the same errors because my computer is still using Windows 7 and the current Wyrebash doesn't support it.  I just had to get an older version of Wyrebash and it worked fine.

Friends, Romans and Countrymen, after a long and curseful toil I have the solution. Apparently, a lot of people (like me) have been using the wrong Wrye Bash file.

    1) You have to download the "Wrye Bash Standalone Executable" and NOT the installer.

    2) Unpack it and move the "Mopy"-folder manually to the Oblivion main folder (where the "Oblivion.exe" file is located)

    3) Start the program via the "Wrye Bash.exe" in the "Mopy"-folder

    4) Then click on the "Installer"-tab and confirm that you want to allow installations

    5) Now drag and drop the "Unofficial Oblivion Patch"-archive in the "Installer"-Tab and check every .esp file in the "Plugin Filter" window (should be checked automatically)

    6) Rightclick on the "Unofficial Oblivion Patch" in the "Installer"-tab and choose "Install"

    7) Check the UOP box in the "Mods"-tab.

    THAT'S IT

Of course, you then should run BOSS or LOOT and rebuild your bash patch, as you should do with every new mod installed

The mod is uninstallable as of now. Wrye Bash wont acknowledge the installation files and thus, the mod cannot be installen. If I could rate this mod, I would rate it as low as possible because you cant even use it. It is literally a waste of Space on my Hard Drive

Hey mate, had the same problem. Right click the empty, blank field of the WryeBash installer area, and click Unhide. Navigate to your BashInstaller folder, click the .7z file, bam.

Since you posted this several months ago, I don't know if you're still having this problem or if you've moved on, but for anyone else. Assuming you haven't already tried the following. Make sure you download the most recent Wyre Bash. Use the installer. Assuming you are using Steam purchased Oblivion, once installed, you'll find it in your Oblivion folder under Mopy. Open it and there is a tab in the top left corner that says "installers." Click on that and click in the area where you see a reddish/pinkish square. Wyre Bash should then ask you if you want to set up installation abilities. Let it. Then you'll find an "Oblivion Mods" folder outside of your Oblivion folder or where ever you told Wyre Bash to put it. (Along with other games Wyre Bash recognizes). Copy and paste the zip file of the Unofficial Patches into Oblivion Mods/Bash Installers. Close Wyre Bash, reopen it, go back to the installer section. Right-click on the mod you want to install, in this case, the Unofficial Patches and select install. It should install.

As of May 2022: I tried Wrye Bash thing, and it came up with a warning not to run it in the program files directory. Well, little late for that now, isn't it?
So, I tried unzipping the unofficial patch and DLC patches. The files are there. When I start Oblivion it lets you choose which files to load. Absolutely no clue what to do. I tried selecting all the normal + patch files, and Obilvion sort-of starts but then vanishes into thin air. Not even an error message.
Shame there are no step-by-step instructions from start to finish on how to use these mods. With datestamps on the instructions, so you know if they are even valid anymore!
Wow, another hour into this. Yay. Tried using Steam to move the files. The steam instructions on the steam website don't even match their own screens for adding a new library. Even more hilarious, it says "oh, that folder is already on the same drive as the existing folder, so we'll just manage the files for you since we don't think you know what you're doing" and won't give me an option to move the installation out of the program files folder.
      What a pile of <bleep>.
Well, back to subnautica I guess. Good luck all!
