About this image

Finally made it to install OR. The lod has been made with tes4ll + new "rocky filter" option (almost ready for release) to improve the mountains

I uploaded it (v5.15 - to be in line with Fallout), I had some message from one of the virus scanners used by nexus but after some testing I think it is a false alarm, because also the older version shows the same error

How do I enable the rocky filter option?

Best is to use MPGUI, in this case the filters can be controlled in the Color Maps tab. With the bat files it also possible, here one has to add the following options in the command in tes4ll_tes4qlod.bat: make_rocky_filter,rocky_filter_value=0.83,rocky_filter_value_mix=1.0

rocky_filter_value is used to calculate the curvature to the black value (increasing it makes it more sensitive), rocky_filter_value_mix is the intensity at all (1.0 = 100%)

Excellent vista! I hope your new release works in Nehrim, too. I followed your advice related to Nehrim, but I'm not sure if it worked as intended. I'm still not very happy with its LOD. Maybe this new rocky filter will add more texture to the mountains in that world...

I think you need a custom directory with MPGUI, as far as I remember, which will need another MPGUI version. In any case I can produce the alternative textures for Nehrim and upload it here on the nexus

Yay - been looking forward to these craggier mountains for a while now so great to hear it's near release!

FWIW, I think the problem with Nehrim's distant landscape is something more fundamental to do with how the original terrain was made than with LOD generation per se. Nehrim's mountains are generally smooth lumps that appear to have been raised by hand in the editor, and they haven't had any type of erosion modelling applied to them, resulting in a somewhat unnatural, 'sugar-loaf' effect... In other words I don't think the LOD generator can add detail which the original landscape lacks...

Anyway, definitely excited for better distant mountains in Cyrodiil at least!

Ha, I thought already to add an erosion model into tes4ll (in order to add region-specific taste, even it would be possible to define different types of geology). Unfortunately this is beyond my means due to time

Well that would be incredible but I can understand that it would be a massive and time-consuming task for any modder to undertake! What you've given us so far is amazing enough!

No idea if this could help to add more variety, but I can try it:
