      no mate, not particles. these are on a animated texture that continually scrolls.
      I made one with tadpoles as well but by the time the game loaded they had all turned into frogs and hopped it...

      Animated texture... Wow! I saw something like that in Ardah (I guess) and in Fallout 3, and it's stuck with me ever since. Wonderful idea!

   In my humble opinion you don't need one. IRL you cannot hear ants. Any sound they would even make (i.e., none) would be 100% drowned out by the wind, the birds, rustling trees and grass, etc.
   
   This looks amazing though, are you going to release it as a mod or something? Great work!

      The inspiration for this is the colony's of wood ants that live in the nearby forest. You can certainly hear them as they grow to around 6 to 8 mm long and there are thousands possibly millions of them. The noise they make as they scramble over the forest floor is defiantly audible at around 3 metres from their huge pine needle strewn nests.i don't hear any trolls or scamps though...lol.
      
      I am currently working on a huge mod for another world place that has been abandoned by its authors and this is one of several effects that will be part of it. It is going to be specifically for. Wanderers and screen shooters, there will be no fantasy creatures added by me just new flora and effects.
      There is a possibility, time allowing that I will add an area to the tamriel worldspace containing this work.

   Amazing once again. You revive Oblivion with each of these new textures you make. This one reminds me of Ants in my pants mod for Skyrim. I really can't wait to see them on Nexus front page! Keep up the good work! Have your 100th kudos!
