About this image

The Hyperians and Nordathi finally have languages of their own now. These languages are English-based; I basically just rearranged the alphabet for each.

Also, I have finalized the planetary data for Arkan. I am currently in the process of finalizing the statistics for the other worlds beyond Arkan, and of course, have been quite busy updating the book and making the necessary expansions/edits to the lore.

The fate of the mod itself is uncertain at this time. I haven't had much time to devote to this project as I would have liked this past year, being very preoccupied with work. As such, I have decided to prioritize the book over the mod. I wouldn't say the mod is cancelled so much as it is in a state of hibernation.

Universe Sandbox 2 was used to build an accurate simulation of the planetary body of Arkan, which is also where the above screenshots came from.

Southern Arkania experiences two winters and two summers.
The Greater Winter (summer for north) lasts 190 Arkanite days (210 Earth days).
The Lesser Winter lasts 163 Arkanite days (180 Earth days).
Note that these winters are named not only for their difference in length, but also according to their difference in temperature. Although the average surface temperature of the planet is actually a couple degrees higher during the Greater Winter, the Greater Winter is much colder from the perspective of the Hyperians, as this particular winter, while its reach may not stretch as far as its northern sister, begins in the southern hemisphere and therefore the so-called "heart of winter" is much closer to home.Much of Hyperia is in fact rocky tundra as a result of this brutal climate, incapable of sustaining much more beyond shrubs and grasses except along the northern beaches and around the balmy Myrmidon Sea region. As one can imagine then, it's no wonder that Hyperia is a seafaring civilization. The realm's interior is largely inhospitable and as such its settlements are all rather small and colonial in function. The summers in the south are very brief, both lasting just 25 days (28 Earth days) each, while the north experiences a much longer session of summer that is 228 days (approx. 252 Earth days) in length .A 'leap day' is added to the last month of the year every 125 years. Because of its rare ocurrence, this day was also made into a holiday -- the Festival of Light. The Arkanian calendar was developed during the time of the Republic, during the Second Age, when both nations were allied. They were each granted a version of the calender written in their own tongue. Regardless of language, the calendar contains 11 months, each with 38 days. Despite their severed peace, the calendar of the Republic remains in use today.

- Currently working on finalizing planetary data for Svarog, Ardun and Morana. Once that's finished, I'll be granting them proper sections in the book. They're already described in great detail -- they just don't have the privilege that Arkan does of a whole section devoted to a unified description. Once that's done, I'll move on to making a few more edits to the timeline and then the book should be ready for the next phase of production. Hopefully.

On the side, I have also been working on something akin to a crafting system with a 'dismantle item for currency' function for the mod. It was originally designed as a solution to the issue of being unable to produce NPC dialogue. Rather than visit vendors for gear, players would need to collect materials and craft their own. Not sure if it will ever be implemented however, busy as I've been. It may be released separately, as its own mod for public testing, due to time constraints.

What a labor of love this has been..

Looks a little like one of my Favorite Supreme Commander maps, Seton's Clutch, stretched across a globe.

I can see the resemblance now that you mention it. Climate is quite similar to that map during the summers and around the coastal regions.

The design for Arkan was based on the geography of Mars, actually. It's essentially a what-if scenario in terms of habitability. The rest of the worlds, too, are heavily inspired by those bodies found in our own solar system. I wanted to retain a sense of familiarity while diving into the fantasy genre.

    Oh friend

Really long time. Are you doing well?
I'm happy to still be alive your project.

Oh, taepal! It is good to hear from you! I am pleased to know you are still interested in this project

I am doing well, but I have been a bit upset that I have had little time for writing the book, and much less time for developing the mod.

My greatest hope is that, one day, publishing works for this epic fantasy universe will become a full-time job instead. One can hope
