      In the A Song Of Ice and Fire Series they are known as "Others".White Walkers are what the tv series names them.

      I have a different story line in TESIV:Oblivion. They are actually cursed elves that originated 10,000 years ago between the first war between the Word and Void. When the Others joined the forces of the evil fairy races known as the Void, they were banished to the desolate world of Qerach. Some of the Others went into the far North and were not seen again throughout Cyrodiil. They are a parasitic race that fed upon humanoid life. They have all but disappeared into mystery and legend but have only resurfaced in Cyrodiil when the last winter became the longest in recorded history.
