About this image

This is the heightmap for Arendale, another playable area to be featured in Realms of Arkania.

As previously explained, I have decided to divide this mod's game world into multiple worldspaces -- as opposed to a single, seamless world -- in order to compensate for my working alone and to keep the level of detail high. More recently, I have also decided to release the mod in parts:

Part I: Part I of RoA shall include the regions of Arendale, Elimya, Western Arunor and Eastern Arunor. Hyperians shall be the only playable race at this time, for these are their homelands.

Part II: Part II of RoA shall add four new zones, together comprising the realm of Artheladia. Artheladians shall be unlocked as a playable race, for these are their homelands.

Part III: Part III of RoA shall add three new zones, together comprising the realm of Lotharia. Artheladians and Hyperians shall be allowed to travel to one another's homelands via the "frontier" transitional realm of Lotharia.

Part IV: Part IV of RoA shall complete the mod by adding end-game/extra content, especially dialogue, some high-level zones, and mythic lairs. About lairs: Due to lack of resources/manpower, I simply cannot design every single lair in the mod as large and intricate as I would like, so, to compensate, I have decided to build most of them in moderate to low detail, and a few in very high detail. These rarer, more complex lairs will be called "mythic lairs". Each one will be a hand-crafted, booby-trapped maze with interesting challenges. Mythic lairs are also hidden, so they may take some extra time out exploring the wilderness and following clues within the lore in order to locate.

At this point, the mod will have reached a playable state, and thus, anything more than Hyperia, Artheladia and Lotharia is technically bonus content. Therefore, the zones comprising the realm of Nordania shall be developed in the mod's first true expansion.

The future of RoA beyond this point is uncertain. Whether more expansions are to be developed beyond Nordania shall ultimately depend on the popularity of the mod. There are indeed other continents and even entire worlds aside from Asuron that I could develop content for, but my most immediate plans only cover the realms I have mentioned, as these were the ones most directly impacted by the events in the book, and also the ones, I feel, which would deliver the best 'vanilla' experience as this part of the world is where we have some of our most powerful factions and iconic landscapes.
