The apple core bit stems from an American kid's joke/prank/game sort of thing. It doesn't really mean anything. but tends to end up with some one getting hit with an apple core. Fairly nonsensical, it start's when a kid finishes an apple,

Like papp said! Throw it and run!
Saying he'd make them eat with straws for a year is indicating hes going easy on them and won't use it. The "Throw and Run" idea might cause Cath to enter a Waaagh and go threw several walls. Until he can (Free/Liberate/Banish) their heads from their shoulders.
But as long as it isn't painted red to make it stronger and faster I'd say the girls still could try the "Throw and Run" variant.
btw. The apple is red too - you'd better watch out, Cath!
