*** This weapon is also available as part of my NIF-Bashed Weapons Mega-Pack ***

DESCRIPTION
I was inspired to make this weapon after seeing the Lancehead F1, a crossbow that uses a complex system of pulleys and torsion springs to propel a bolt, instead of traditional recurve or compound limbs. This system allows the crossbow to have a much slimmer profile, making it more handy and compact like the form factor of a rifle.

Many random bits and pieces went into this mesh, but the core parts are the thumbhole/skeleton stock from the Sniper Rifle, the drum magazine from the Riot Shotgun and the carry handle from the Assault Carbine. I also used the hammer from the Chinese Pistol, the scope from the .44 Magnum Revolver, the front spikes from the Tesla Cannon, the trigger from the Assault Carbine, the trigger guard from the 25mm Grenade APW, the handguard from the Laser Rifle, the magazine from the 12.7mm SMG, the receiver from the .22 SMG, the static car wheel rims, pieces from the Sentry Turret, and cables from the Rivet City bridge.

Gameplay-wise, this weapon is a silent single-shot crossbow that must be reloaded after every shot, and will pin limbs to walls on a critical hit. It can't be modded, and must be repaired either by a merchant or using a Weapon Repair Kit.

I created three different arrow types for use with this weapon:
  • Bullet Point - Standard bolts that do basic ballistic damage and can be crafted using 1 Scrap Metal
  • Blunt Tip - Heavy bolts that rely on blunt-force trauma to deal additional fatigue damage, which can be crafted using 1 Scrap Metal and 100 Lead
  • Broadhead - Razor-sharp bladed bolts that deal extra damage and can be crafted using 1 Scrap Metal and 1 Throwing Knife

Bolts can be recovered from enemies after they're killed, but bolts that stick into surfaces (and robots) are considered to be damaged beyond recovery.

LOCATION
The weapon can be purchased from the Gun Runners and other vendors across the Wasteland, or found in random loot drops. Of course, if you're feeling lazy, you can always use the following console command (Substitute ## with the Mod Index of the plugin in your load order):

player.AddItem ##000ADE 1;Gives 1 Torsion Crossbow
player.AddItem ##000ADF 50;Gives 50 Bullet Point Bolts
player.AddItem ##000AE0 50;Gives 50 Blunt Tip Bolts
player.AddItem ##000AE1 50;Gives 50 Broadhead Bolts

The Mod Index is a two-character hexadecimal code, with a value between 00 and FF, that can be found using a mod manager. It should be listed somewhere beside the name of the plugin. After finding the Mod Index, open the console in game using the tilde (~) key, and type Player.AddItem <FormID> 1

INSTALLATION
Extract all the files in the archive to your New Vegas data folder (which is the same folder where FalloutNV.esm is located) and then enable the ESP either in your mod manager of choice, or under "Data Files" in the launcher that runs when you start up New Vegas.
