DESCRIPTION
I know, I know... I'll give you a few minutes to scrape your brains off the ceiling before we continue. Take your time...

You good? Okay.

So, this started out as an experiment to see if I could mix and match the firing and reload animations from different weapons - in this case, could I use the lever-action firing animation with the magazine reload from the Hunting Rifle? It turned out the answer was, "Yes!" so here we are. I was inspired to try this in the first place by the BrickWurX Mfg Red RydAR lever-action AR-15.

I started with the base game Brush Gun mesh and removed the receiver, handguard and barrel. Then, I took the Marksman Carbine, and removed the barrel, stock, optic and pistol grip. I then mated the two pieces together and added the rear sight from the Brush Gun, the handguard and front sight from the Service Rifle and the barrel from the Varmint Rifle. For any gun nerds out there, yes I removed the buffer tube, but AR-pattern rifles without buffer tubes are not new. Look at the Olympic Arms OA-93 and the Z-M LR-300. There is plenty of space for a buffer spring in the raised ridge on the upper part of the receiver, directly under the rear sight.

Gameplay-wise, this weapon plays a lot like the Service Rifle, dealing similar damage, but with the fire rate of the Brush Gun. It can be modded with the Assault Carbine Extended Mags and the Trail Carbine Scope. I've also added the weapon to all the appropriate form lists, so that all perks and challenges that affect lever-action firearms (i.e. Cowboy, Old Vaquero) will work as expected.

LOCATION
The weapon can be purchased from the Gun Runners and other vendors across the Wasteland, or found in random loot drops. Of course, if you're feeling lazy, you can always use the following console command (Substitute ## with the number of the mod in your load order):

player.AddItem ##000ADE 1;Gives 1 Lever-Action 5.56mm Rifle

INSTALLATION

Extract all the files in the archive to your New Vegas data folder (which is the same folder where FalloutNV.esm is located) and then enable the ESP either in your mod manager of choice, or under "Data Files" in the launcher that runs when you start up New Vegas.
